The mastermind behind the attack on Haryanvi singer-rapper Rahul Fazilpuria is being deported to India. The accused, identified as Sunil Sardhania, was detained in Zurich, Switzerland. His deportation is in process.
As per a report by NDTV, Sardhania was first located in Jerusalem, and from there he was being traced. Upon his arrival in India, Sardhania will be reportedly taken to Gurugram for further interrogation.
On July 14, Rahul Fazilpuria reportedly escaped a gun attack unhurt after unidentified men fired at him in Gurugram. The incident took place on SPR Road in Gurugram when unidentified assailants fired two to three rounds at the singer’s vehicle.
The miscreants fled the spot after firing.
Gurugram Police reached the spot and launched an investigation. However, initially they could not confirm if the singer was fired upon.
As the investigation continued, reports stated that the bullet hit the pole installed in the middle of the divider, as bullet marks were seen on it.
Days after the attack, Sardhania claimed responsibility for the attack in a social media post. He also claimed that Deepak Nandal, a music producer, and Indrajit Yadav, an alleged member of the Himanshu Bhau gang, were involved as well.
Sardhania, in the post, stated Fazilpuria had taken Rs 5 crore from Nandal and was not repaying the loan.
Singer Fazilpuria also contested in the 2024 Lok Sabha elections from Gurugram on a Jannayak Janata Party (JJP) ticket. He lost to BJP’s Mukesh Sharma, who won the seat with over 1.22 lakh votes.
