Sedgley Court spreads Christmas cheer for children in Dudley hospital

This festive season, Sedgley Court is inviting the local community to help make Christmas extra special for young patients at the C2 Children’s Ward, Dudley Group NHS Foundation Trust. Through the Christmas Community Chest, members of the public can donate a child’s Christmas gift. Each year, children from the ward share their wish lists, and Sedgley Court proudly displays these wishes on their Christmas tree for people to choose from. Emma Chaffe, Home Manager at HC-One’s Sedgley Court Care Home, said: “So far, 10 gifts have already been chosen, and more wishes are on their way due to the wonderful community response.” Sedgley Court is also supporting the Russells Hall Hospital Shoebox Appeal, organised by the Dudley Group NHS Charity, to provide essential comfort packs for children admitted to hospital with few or no belongings. The home is collecting new items only, including socks, underwear, baby grows, vests, pyjamas, outfits, toiletries, and hairbrushes, to create emergency packs for children up to 16 years old. These donations will offer year-round support for young patients in need. To take part, simply drop off your donated gifts at Sedgley Court Care Home, Brick Kiln Way, Dudley, DY3 4BA. In addition, colleagues and residents will be taking part in a Christmas Jumper Day to raise further funds for children at Dudley Hospital, adding festive fun to their fundraising efforts. Emma Chaffe, Home Manager at HC-One’s Sedgley Court Care Home, added: “We’re so proud to be part of such a caring community. It’s heartwarming to see everyone come together to make Christmas brighter for children spending time in hospital.”
