Taskforce to crack down on tax crimes formalised with multi agency MOU

A memorandum of understanding for the Tax Crime Taskforce has been signed today by FRCS along with eight other key agencies, including the Fiji Police Force and FICAC, to enhance transparency and safeguard the integrity of Fiji’s financial and revenue systems. Minister for Finance Esrom Immanuel says the MOU formalizes the establishment of the Tax Crimes Taskforce, which has been operational throughout the year. Immanuel says the initiative marks a major milestone in national efforts to strengthen compliance, enhance transparency, and safeguard the integrity of Fiji’s financial and revenue systems. He highlights that the taskforce operates under a clear strategic policy framework, with objectives including increased surveillance and monitoring of financial crimes and tax evasion, enhanced cross-border checks and enforcement mechanisms. The MOU was signed by FRCS, Fiji Police Force, FICAC, Ministry of Immigration, Office of Solicitor General, Ministry of Justice, Fiji Financial Intelligence Unit, and the Land Transports Authority.
