Tears and disbelief at funeral of family torn apart in horror crash

A heartbreaking funeral service has taken place for a family torn apart by a devastating crash. The family-of-four lived in the Connah's Quay area and had moved to Poland last month but their car collided with a tree on the journey home and a father and his baby daughter died. The baby, Natalka, was aged just two months, and her dad, Krzysztof Lewandowski, was only 30 years old. The mother and son, three, survived. The boy Piotrus however remains in a serious condition in a Polish hospital. One of the speakers at the father and daughter's funeral was Anna Buckley, of the Polish Integration Support Centre in Wrexham. Ms Buckley is a friend of the mother Justyna Petryszyn. She was accompanied by Justyna's landlady Debbie Owen. Ms Buckley told North Wales Live: "The funeral was extremely difficult, full of tears and a sense of disbelief. I attended together with Debbie Owen. "On behalf of PISC, I gave a farewell speech in memory of Justyna’s boyfriend and baby daughter, representing friends, colleagues, and the Polish community in the UK. My son Max gave some of his toys for little Piotruś. "I also bought clothes and toys for him, as well as clothes for Justyna. Debbie brought lovely gifts for both of them too. "After the funeral, we visited Justyna’s father, who hadn’t been able to attend. We invited him for a meal before going to the hospital to see Justyna. "When she saw us, she burst into tears - she hugged Debbie tightly, saying “I can’t believe you came.” The nurses were also crying; they said it was a turning point for Justyna, as she hadn’t spoken, cried, or smiled for several days before our visit. "What a mother goes through after losing her child in such a tragic accident is beyond words. Justyna said her last goodbye to her daughter Natalka on the day of the accident, when firefighters handed her the baby one last time. "At the moment, Justyna remains on strong medication, and Piotruś is still in a coma with multiple fractures and head haematomas. They both face a long road to recovery - and a lifelong pain of loss. "We are deeply grateful for all the support and compassion shown by the local community." Sign up for the North Wales Live newsletter sent twice daily to your inbox
