The best kids’ Christmas gifts in Australia: 50 great ideas for babies, toddlers, kids and tweens

It takes a village to raise a child, and it takes a team of editors to compile an Australian Christmas kids’ gift guide.
Whether you’re a parent, grandparent or friend-of-a-parent, we have a gift to spark joy for the child in your life. Shannon Wong-Nizic, a primary school teacher librarian and the creator of Oh Creative Day blog, has selected toys, trinkets and tomes to inspire, educate or create moments of play for kids aged zero to 12.
In the interests of keeping things local, our selected gifts are largely from Australia-based businesses, and the chosen books are by Australian authors and illustrators.
We’ve listed products at their recommended retail price, but during sale periods some prices may be lower at the checkout.
If you’re looking for grown-up gifts that won’t break your budget, head to our list of gifts for adults under $55.
How to use this kids’ gift guide
You can sort by gift category: something cute for objects to have and to hold; something playful for games, activities and silly stories to occupy hands and minds; something useful for clothes, accessories and practical items; something crafty for the artistically inclined and something educational for teachable moments or rollicking reads.
You can also sort by age: someone under two, someone toddler-aged (two to three years), someone at preschool (four to five years), someone in lower primary (six to eight years) and someone in upper primary (nine to 12 years). Teenagers are likely trickier to buy for – just ask them what they want, or give them cold, hard cash.
You can also sort by budget: under $25, under $50, or show all.
When you spot something you like, tap on the plus icon (+) for more details, then hit “buy online” to head to the product’s website.
