Repairs on Putrajaya MRT line still going on after more cables found cut

The disruption to the Putrajaya MRT line has forced train services to be operated manually, resulting in longer waits for commuters. (Bernama pic) PETALING JAYA: Repairs on the signalling system on the Putrajaya MRT line are still going on after Rapid Rail Sdn Bhd found that more fiber optic cables had been cut, believed due to theft. Services on the line were disrupted yesterday, forcing trains to be operated manually. Rapid Rail said a comprehensive repair process was needed to ensure that operations "return to stability and safety". In a statement this morning, it said train frequency between the Kwasa Damansara station and Putrajaya Sentral is expected to be every 20 to 30 minutes. It said train movements are slower, with longer stops at each station. The rail operator said the free shuttle bus service from Kwasa Damansara station to Putrajaya Sentral will continue, and bus frequency is expected to be every 15 to 20 minutes, depending on traffic conditions. It advised those needing assistance to speak to station staff or police personnel on duty, or refer to Rapid KL's social media pages and the PULSE app for the latest information and developments. Passengers are also advised to plan their journeys in advance and use alternative transport to avoid delays, it said.

Papagomo arrested, under probe for sedition

Blogger Wan Azri Wan Deris, also known as Papagomo, was arrested at about 12.20am for an investigation under the Sedition Act 1948, said his lawyer. (Bernama pic) PETALING JAYA: Police arrested blogger Wan Azri Wan Deris, whose alter ego is believed to be Papagomo, on a sedition probe early this morning. Lawyer Rafique Rashid Ali said Wan Azri was arrested at about 12.30am and is expected to be taken to the Dang Wangi district police headquarters at 9.30am for a remand order. In a brief statement, he said the investigation is under the Sedition Act 1948, but did not specify where Wan Azri, 42, was arrested or what case the arrest was in connection with. On Sept 24, Wan Azri was ordered by the Kuala Lumpur sessions court to enter his defence on a charge of making a seditious statement involving the Yang di-Pertuan Agong. He was accused of making the seditious statement in a post on X, under the account sir_azri, at a condominium in Bukit Bintang at noon on April 29. On Sept 3, the sessions court acquitted him of a charge of making seditious remarks alleging that the government was pro-Israel. The Attorney-General’s Chambers said it would file a notice of appeal against the decision.
