Seahawks Prove NFC Dark Horse Status With Dominant Win Over Cardinals

Is the NFL potentially sleeping on the Seattle Seahawks as a clear Super Bowl favorite? More news: Raiders Fire Assistant Coach Amid Disastrous 2025 Season It appears this NFC West team continues to get stronger each week, and they showcased that with a dominant win over the Arizona Cardinals. Now, the Cardinals are a much worse team on paper, but they are certainly not the worst in the league or in the NFC. Despite that, the Seahawks marched into Lumen Field and showcased why they could be the dark horse candidate for the Super Bowl. Sam Darnold continues to prove the Minnesota Vikings made a mistake by letting him walk, as he put together a performance of 10-for-12 passing attempts, 178 yards, one touchdown, and one interception. Minus the turnover, he played the part perfectly, allowing the dynamic run game and defense to shine. On the ground, the Seahawks once again used a committee that included Zach Charbonnet picking up 83 yards and one touchdown on 14 carries, Kenneth Walker II picking up 67 yards on 14 carries, and George Holani securing 31 yards and one touchdown on seven carries. In total, the committee running back corps picked up 198 yards and two touchdowns on 48 carries. As stated, Darnold benefited from not having to do the heavy lifting because the defense did it for him. Early on in the second quarter, Seattle had a commanding 28-0 lead. It did not really matter what the Cardinals did; the Seahawks had the wiggle room to coast to a win. The Cardinals would score three touchdowns in total, one in the second, one in the third, and one in the fourth. Despite the small bounce back, the Seahawks padded their own lead with 44 total points. In their second lopsided win in back-to-back weeks, this team has been surprising to watch. It isn’t the fact that Darnold’s play in 2025 proves that 2024 was no fluke, or the fact that the run game continues to find ways to implement multiple playmakers. It’s the totality of coaching and players on both sides of the ball. The Seahawks are tied with the Los Angeles Rams for the best record in the NFC with 7-2, and both teams are showcasing elite skills. It could be down to the pair of NFC West combatants when all is said and done in the NFC Championship game. What is exciting is that the Seahawks and Rams will face off against one another next in what could be a preview for the NFC Championship. For more on the Seahawks, head to Newsweek Sports.

Myles Garrett Sends Bold Warning to Browns Following Jets Loss

The Cleveland Browns have dropped to 2-7 on the season, losing to the New York Jets with a final score of 27-20. On the heels of the loss, star defender Myles Garrett has sent a bold warning to his team. More news: Raiders Fire Assistant Coach Amid Disastrous 2025 Season Cleveland has been thrust into drama this season, as there has been plenty of back-and-forth about whether Dillon Gabriel is truly the long-term option at quarterback. Despite multiple calls for Shedeur Sanders to finally get a shot, head coach Kevin Stefanski remains steadfast in keeping Gabriel behind center. Garrett has also seemingly become far more frustrated with his own team, as he was seen showcasing sideline frustration in Week 8 after securing five sacks against the New England Patriots. Now, Garrett has sent a bold warning to the Browns team after their Week 10 loss to the Jets. Myles Garrett: "I'm going to make sure that there's no quit in this team. I haven't see it before and it's not going to happen now. I'm going to make sure everybody mans up and still knows exactly what the directive is."— Daniel Oyefusi (@DanielOyefusi) November 9, 2025 Per a comment to reports, Garrett stated he plans to ensure that the Browns do not quit, despite their 2-7 record. “I’m going to make sure that there’s no quit in this team. I haven’t see it before and it’s not going to happen now. I’m going to make sure everybody mans up and still knows exactly what the directive is,” Garrett said in a comment via Daniel Oyefusi. Myles Garrett #95 of the Cleveland Browns looks on during warmups before a game against the Cincinnati Bengals at Huntington Bank Field on October 20, 2024 in Cleveland, Ohio. More news: How Did Sauce Gardner Do in Colts Debut? Instead of throwing his helmet in frustration on the sideline, Garrett has chosen to lead this time around. His warning, which is also meant to inspire his team, is exactly what the Browns need. Garrett signed a massive four-year, $160 million contract extension in March with the Browns after requesting a trade. The trade was reportedly set to happen, but the team chose to invest in the former Defensive Player of the Year. Though Garrett is a perennial edge rusher, the Browns offense cannot seem to get things going. Whether or not that is an issue with just Gabriel or the core of the team remains to be seen. Stefanski might also be coaching for his job. There are plenty of games to turn things around, and Cleveland may take Garrett’s words and use them as fuel to help correct their losing streak. Garrett may attempt to force a trade again, but for now, he is a leader on this struggling Browns team. For more on the Browns, head to Newsweek Sports.

49ers Make Surprising Brock Purdy Decision Ahead of Rams Game

The San Francisco 49ers will have Mac Jones start again, as the team looks to take control of the NFC West. The plan was for Brock Purdy to be the backup, but the team has made a surprising decision for the former starting quarterback. More news: Raiders Fire Assistant Coach Amid Disastrous 2025 Season Purdy has only played in two games this season, as he suffered a significant turf toe injury that has impacted him in a very significant way. He would return in Week 4, but reaggravated the injury. That reaggravation has led to a far longer layoff. Purdy should be the starting quarterback when he is fully healthy, but that appears not to be the case again in Week 10. Though head coach Kyle Shanahan stated he would be the backup, that is no longer the case. Once again, Brock Purdy is slated to be inactive, rather than the #49ers backup QB to Mac Jones. Not there yet.— Ian Rapoport (@RapSheet) November 9, 2025 Per reports, Purdy has been ruled out instead of being the backup for Jones. It appears that his toe injury is still significant enough to keep him out of action, even in a would-be backup role. (Photo by Brooke Sutton/Getty Images) More news: Rams Announce Major Puka Nacua Availability News for Week 10 The 49ers cannot afford for Purdy to be hurt long-term, which is probably why Shanahan has chosen instead to be cautious with the signal caller. The star quarterback might just need a couple more weeks to fully heal, which shouldn’t be an issue for the team. Even with the mounting injuries, the 49ers have a 6-3 record, and Jones has played some good football in his starts. He has 1,832 yards, 10 touchdowns, and five interceptions in seven starts. The 49ers are slowly getting healthy, but Purdy being 100 percent is paramount to the team’s success, especially in the later months. San Francisco is likely to allow the quarterback to heal and be ready for a playoff push, if he cannot return sooner. For more on the 49ers, head to Newsweek Sports.
