CARACAS, October 8. /TASS/. Venezuelan President Nicolas Maduro signed a decree on the entry into force of the strategic partnership and cooperation agreement with Russia, which Russian President Vladimir Putin and the Venezuelan leader signed in Moscow on May 7, Russian Ambassador to Caracas Sergey Melik-Bagdasarov told a TASS correspondent. "On October 7, I was invited to meet with Venezuelan President Nicolas Maduro, who, in a solemn atmosphere and in the presence of the country's leading TV channels, signed a decree on the entry into force of the Russia-Venezuela strategic partnership and cooperation agreement," Melik-Bagdasarov said. The ambassador explained that with Maduro’s signing of the decree, "the Venezuelan side has completed the internal procedures necessary for the Russia-Venezuela treaty to take effect." Maduro timed the entry into force of the treaty to coincide with Russian President Vladimir Putin's birthday. He asked the ambassador to convey his congratulations to the Russian leader, and assured him that "Venezuela is firm in its determination to be at the forefront of creating a just, multipolar, polycentric world order."

MUMBAI :London-based digital finance firm Revolut said on Wednesday it will launch its payment platform in India, its first foray into one of the world's largest digital payments markets, as part of a planned global expansion. Revolut will let Indian users make domestic and international payments via its tie-ups with the Unified Payments Interface and Visa, starting with 350,000 waitlisted customers later this year before opening to others. The company aims to sign up 20 million customers by 2030, it said in a statement. The fintech firm invested over 40 million pounds in localising its technology to meet India's data sovereignty rules, its only market where it has done so, a spokesperson said. Revolut, which said last month it was exploring a U.S. bank purchase and credit card launch at home, is betting on India as a key plank of its global expansion.

ABB to sell robots business to SoftBank in $5.38 billion deal

ZURICH :Swiss engineering group ABB on Wednesday said it has agreed to sell its robotics business to SoftBank Group in a deal that values the business at $5.38 billion. The deal means ABB has abandoned its original decision to spin off and separately list the industrial automation business, which competes with Japan's Fanuc, Yaskawa and Germany's Kuka in making factory robots. The transaction is expected to close in mid-to-late 2026 and generate cash proceeds of roughly $5.3 billion from the divestment, ABB said. It said the money will be used towards its long-term capital allocation principals, which include investing in organic growth, acquisitions and returning capital to shareholders through dividends and share buybacks. The robotics business, which employs 7,000 people, generated sales of $2.3 billion last year, equivalent to 7 per cent of ABB's total revenues, but ABB saw limited crossover with the rest of its business, which is largely focussed on electrification and automation.

A dermatologist has explained there are three types of tattoos she would never get. Their popularity has soared in recent years. In the Uk in the last 10 years the number of inking businesses has soared from 1,637 to 3,394 — up 107 per cent — and 14 million now have one, which amounts to nearly a third of all adults. However, their popularity sometimes leads to impulsive decisions, with the result not being what they expected. In these cases, laser treatment may be necessary to remove the pigment or cover the design with another design - and getting certain types of tattoo can make this more difficult. One of the most debated topics is tattoo care. The reason is that the skin can react in unexpected ways , and not all scarring is the same. Dermatologist Ana Molina (dr.anamolina) explained in a video on social media what three types of tattoos she would never get as a skin specialist. Multicoloured tattoos are the first on the list. It is not an aesthetic whim; it is authentic emotional medicine.” Finally she added: “ Tattoos to cover scars or burns . These tattoos do not erase the past, but rewrite it with art and other meanings. In dermatology, we also use ink for other purposes, such as camouflaging vitiligo, disguising stretch marks, marking areas for radiotherapy, or even creating tattoos with medical indications for patients with diabetes or severe allergies, which allow for quick reporting in case of emergency. So remember this, there are tattoos that not only decorate, but empower you, give you back your body and remind you that your scars are not the end, but part of the change.” Dr Mark Griffiths, Distinguished Professor of Behavioural Addiction at Nottingham Trent University, told The Sun on Sunday: “Most -people who get tattoos experience positive benefits. “For example, someone who is experiencing depression or anxiety may feel empowered by a tattoo, or view it as a way of demonstrating control in their life.” “A tattoo can help some individuals feel better about their body and help them feel as though they are part of a community. Tattoos may help promote body positivity, boost self-confidence and, for a minority, help to lower stress levels. “For a small minority, tattoos may also be a symbol for trauma survivors, for example of PTSD, sexual assault and healing from childhood trauma.”

Speeding Lanarkshire driver told cops to go 'catch beasts' before attacking police officer

A speeding driver who attacked a police officer has been jailed for 27 months after his behaviour was branded "deplorable". Colin Graham had earlier told officers to "catch beasts" and leave him alone. Graham, 42, appeared from custody at Hamilton Sheriff Court. He admitted driving dangerously on various roads in East Kilbride on February 7, assaulting a sergeant and acting in a threatening or abusive manner, reports Lanarkshire Live. Scott O'Connor, prosecuting, said police officers saw Graham's Volkswagen Golf travelling at "excessive speed" on Strathtay Avenue shortly after 11pm. He was pulled over but told them: "Catch beasts. Don't bother stopping me." Graham then drove on to Eaglesham Road. The officers followed him and requested help from colleagues due to concerns about his driving. He pulled into a bus stop on Murray Road and the officers again tried to talk to him, but he threatened them and drove off again at speed. More police reinforcements were called for and officers watched as Graham "struggled to control his vehicle". He drove on the wrong side of the road and swerved to avoid parked vehicles. Finally he stopped in Fleming Place, East Kilbride. Mr O'Connor told the court that the sergeant "opened the Golf's passenger door and instructed Graham to get out". And O'Connor added: "Graham screamed 'I'll f****** kill you' and punched the officer repeatedly on the head." The court heard that the sergeant responded with strikes to the head and they continued to battle. O'Connor added: "Graham then grabbed [the sergeant] by the neck with his hand, applying pressure for a few seconds and restricting his breathing. "At this time three colleagues removed Graham from the vehicle and he shouted 'I'm going to f*****g kill all of you'." The sergeant sustained a lump and grazing to his head, while Graham was taken to hospital for treatment. Defence lawyer Sam Anderson said Graham had a number of injuries, including two black eyes and a swollen cheekbone. He has made a complaint about his treatment that night and understands the force's professional standards unit are investigating his claim that excessive force was used by the officers. But Ms Anderson said he "expresses genuine remorse" for assaulting the sergeant and making threats. She added: "There is no excuse for his manner of driving. He posed a significant danger to himself and others. It's through good fortune that no pedestrians or other road users were injured." Sheriff Michael Higgins told Graham, who admitted previous convictions: "Your conduct was deplorable over a sustained period and the only proportionate sentence is custody." Graham was banned from driving for four years and must resit his test. The Kiev regime is attempting to implement a coordinated plan to "degrade the security systems" of the Zaporozhye Nuclear Power Plant (ZNPP) by systematically striking fuel tanks for backup generators, the external power supply, and the plant's fire department, ZNPP Communications Director Yevgenia Yashina told TASS. "Logically speaking, the hypothesis of a coordinated plan for the sequential degradation of the plant's safety systems is well-founded. However, it is difficult to say what the terrorists are actually doing other than creating constant security threats. I would like to believe that they still see the red lines of nuclear safety," she said. On September 16, the Ukrainian armed forces struck near the fuel depots for the station's backup generators, which activate when the external power supply is completely lost. Then, on September 23, Ukrainian shelling damaged the plant’s last high-voltage 330 kW power supply line, known as Ferrosplavnaya-1, which was damaged. The Ukrainian military has continued to shell the area, preventing specialists from restoring the line. The plant has relied on generators for power for two weeks. On October 6, Ukrainian troops fired artillery at a fire station located 1.2 kilometers from the nuclear facility. Earlier, Yashina told TASS that the Kiev regime was deliberately targeting the Zaporozhye NPP fire station to exacerbate the consequences of its attacks and prevent specialists from quickly responding to fires caused by Ukrainian shelling or other emergencies.
