If Haram was the Alchemist’s entry to Armand Hammer’s world, Mercy is a shared vision. There’s a greater understanding of what they can create together, and a willingness to add other sounds into their combined vocabulary. “Calypso Gene” could’ve been unearthed from some lost trove of Dungeon Family recordings, dipping into that collective’s gospel and funk-tinged waters; “Crisis Phone” taps into the white-knuckle pressure Alc and Boldy James explored on “Scrape the Bowl” and “Brickmile to Montana”; “California Games” unfolds like a ’70s psychedelic soul epic, flutes and wordless vocals intertwining over a splashy groove, wailing up at the heavens. And there are thrilling accents that reveal themselves after a few listens, like the synths on “Dogeared” that overlap to create dissonant siren calls, or the car peeling out during the heist-movie soundtrack of “Glue Traps.” These details become little vortexes, pulling you further into the trio’s universe. There’s a pronounced urgency on Mercy, a grounding in the here and now that’s not always prevalent on woods or Elucid projects. The two have distinct ways of experiencing time—woods flattens it by meticulously threading historical events together, showing how they rhyme, while Elucid operates in a more metaphysical lane, weaving facts, feelings, and memories into spiraling, nonlinear episodes. Those methodologies appear here, but they’re increasingly used to react to the wretchedness of our current age. On “Peshawar,” woods bemoans the sudden prevalence of AI: “Thou shalt not make a machine in the likeness of a human/Mind, that’s the rubric/Deep Blue versus Vladimir Putin.” The song itself is named after a city in Pakistan that suffered a brutal terrorist attack on a school in 2014, a scenario that now unfolds across the globe. Elucid dreams of “exploding beepers” on “Nil by Mouth” after images of the one-drop rule, the Iran-Contra affair, and “self-made martyrs” stream through his head like a sour meditation. On “Glue Traps,” he paints a picture of the intersecting lives in his neighborhood, reflecting on its beauty while ruing the constant hustle required of its residents. The brief but brutal “u know my body” sounds like woods describing the scenes of destruction livestreaming from Gaza, but could represent any genocide, past or present. After spending seven records anticipating and examining the effects of our ever-curdling history, Mercy presents the results: The war has arrived at everyone’s doorstep.

Madison Keys and Jennifer Brady shared their embarrassing locker room experiences, the former’s involving a bug, and the latter’s involving Serena Williams. While Brady remains inactive from tennis, Keys is currently playing at the WTA Finals. Madison Keys began her season dominantly, winning her first Grand Slam title at the 2025 Australian Open. She became the first player since Serena Williams in 2005 to defeat both No. 1 and No. 2 in Melbourne. Keys reached the quarterfinal stage of the next Major outing in Roland Garros but fell to eventual champion Coco Gauff. Now, as she competes in her first year-end Championships since 2016, the 30-year-old joined The Players' Box podcast alongside fellow American players Jessica Pegula, Desirae Krawczyk, and inactive player Jennifer Brady. To stir up some fun, Keys asked Brady about her “most embarrassing” locker room moment. The latter recounted a story involving the legendary Serena Williams and how she wished she could escape the situation with boxes of laundry."I would say at French Open, I was in the locker room, and you guys know how the space is very small like it's very minimal and where I was I was in one of the corners. I was actually next to Serena, and I was cleaning out my locker. I had four boxes of laundry, literally two bras and like one pair of shorts in one box, and then it's like four shirts. I'm like, "Just put it all in one box." And they give you so many boxes. And I'm in the middle of doing that. And Serena comes in, and I'm like, like I don't know. Like, I just I froze up and I was like, I'm in her way. I have to move."She then added that Serena Williams was arranging the scattered bags when Brady, feeling intimidated, just wanted to disappear from the scene. "I just literally just go stand on the bench, walk over like jump over the bags, and just leave. And I'm like, I never even finished cleaning out my locker. Like I just like had this urge to like I need to leave her in her space. Like, I was like so intimidated." It truly sounded like I was being attacked. And the poor security man outside came running in cuz I was the only person left, and he's like, "Are you okay?" And I was like, "Yeah, it was a bug. Sorry." It was about, "Yay, big actually. Totally okay. It's already gone. Really sorry." And he was like, "Oh, okay. That's it." And I was like, "Yeah, sorry." Lakers coach JJ Redick once again used LeBron James' son off the bench as Luka Doncic returned to lead the team's starting lineup against Victor Wembanyama's Spurs.Bronny received significant playing time in the second quarter and matched up against Wembanyama on the court. The young guard put his body on the line to guard the Spurs superstar, but his efforts went in vain. Wembanyama used his physicality and floored Bronny before knocking down the shot.The Lakers guard got on the board with a tough banked mid-range jumper, but his attempt to block Wembanyama’s dunk moments later once again proved futile. At half time, Bronny James had two points on 1 of 3 shooting from the floor, and one rebound in five minutes.
