The Buildings Access Security Receptionist serves as the first point of contact for all visitors, contractors, and employees entering premises. The role ensures that only authorized individuals gain access, while providing professional front-line service and supporting security protocols and compliance requirements.RequirementsAccess Control and VerificationGreet and assist all visitors, employees, and contractors in a professional and courteousmanner.Verify identification, issue visitor badges/cards, and maintain accurate visitor logs.Enforce access control policies, including Anti-Passback rules and National KeyPoint compliance requirements.Monitor entry/exit points to prevent unauthorised access.Security ScreeningConduct basic bag or equipment inspections where authorised.Use electronic access systems and CCTV to monitor lobby activities.Visitor & Contractor ManagementContact hosts to confirm appointments before granting access.Ensure all visitors and contractors are escorted or directed to their destination.Incident ReportingReport suspicious activities, security breaches, or safety hazards to the SecurityConsultant or Control Room immediately.Maintain accurate incident and access records for audits.Customer Service & CommunicationProvide information and directions to authorised visitors and employees.Handle incoming phone calls at reception and direct them appropriately.Administrative SupportMaintain reception area in a neat, orderly, and secure manner.File visitor documentation and update access control records as required.Assist with security-related administration, such as compiling daily access reports.Performance Metrics (KPIs) Accuracy in visitor and access control records. Compliance with security procedures and protocols. 100% coverage of incoming calls through the reception phone. Accuracy and tidiness in filing and data capturing. Timeliness in logging messages and submitting cost/usage reports if needed (e.g.,telephone cost reports to departments)Minimimum RequirementsQualifications and Experience Minimum: Matric (Grade 12). Minimum Education: Grade 12 (Matric) or equivalent. Experience: At least 1–2 years of security access control or reception.Advantageous A tertiary certificate in Office Administration or related field is advantageous. Experience in a high-security or corporate building environment advantageous. Reception switchboard experience. SAP system experience beneficial Receptionists are the face of an organization; excellent customer service is vital. Familiarity with access control duties or visitor management systems /platforms. Awareness of anti-passback and access protocolsKey Competencies Fluency in English (written and spoken). Proficient in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook and access control); experience with SAP or clerical systems preferred. Excellent telephonic etiquette, interpersonal communication, and customer‑service orientation. Professional appearance and conduct. Strong attention to detail and situational awareness. Ability to remain calm under pressure. Highly organized and detail‑oriented, able to prioritize and multitask without close supervision. Reliable and trustworthy, with discretion around confidential information. Professional and presentable demeanor appropriate for corporate environment.Security Clearance Must be eligible and willing to undergo screening of background checks, integritychecks and criminal record checks.Work Conditions & Extras Primarily based at reception/security checkpoint. May be required to work shifts, weekends, and public holidays. Must wear Security-approved uniform and identification. Full‑time, on‑site position based at Centurion May require shift flexibility, coverage for peak times or special reception events.
