1st Assistant Superintendent - G00 Oxbow Creek Golf Course

Job Description

Assist the Superintendent in the overall maintenance and care of the golf course, including turf/grass management, irrigation, and chemical applications to ensure quality playing conditions. Supervises personnel and participates in the maintenance of the golf course tees, fairways, greens, and cart paths. The assistant will ensure adherence to golf course maintenance budget and guidelines. Will serve in the superintendent’s capacity during absence. Will help train and monitor inmates. In addition, there will be part-time Shop Clerk duties as well. Welcomes customers and answer questions by phone and in person. Operates cash register which is computer based. Balances the cash register and generates reports from sales. Directs players to starting positions on 1st tee. Stages golf carts and assists with Golf Cart returns. Assists with cleaning golf carts and maintaining the range. Stocks merchandise and snack/ drink products. Maintains a clean workspace, and at the end of day makes sure that the Clubhouse is clean and ready for the next day.Knowledge of management and maintenance of greens, fairways, and roughs. Knowledge of use and operating standards of equipment and tools used in golf course construction and maintenance work. Skill in recruiting, supervising, training, monitoring, evaluating and motivating personnel. Interpersonal skill to resolve conflict and work with supervisors, officials, employees, members, and the general public. Knowledge of safe use, mixing and application of chemicals and commercial products. Knowledge of the game of golf, golf rules and methods of play. Ability to anticipate personnel, equipment, and material requirements related to golf course maintenance and repair assignments. Ability and knowledge to lay out irrigation patterns, drainage patterns, construct tees and/or greens. Knowledge of recreational golf. Skill in basic math and computer operations. Skill in oral and written communication. Must be able to work alone with limited supervision.Knowledge and level of competency commonly associated with the completion of specialized training in the occupational field, in addition to basic skills typically associated with a high school education. Sufficient experience to understand the basic principles relevant to the major duties of the position, usually associated with the completion of an apprenticeship/internship or having had a similar position for three to five years experience as a Golf Superintendent or 1st Assistant. and the basic principles relevant to the major duties of the position to include attention to detail. Must have a valid Driver's License.While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to reach with hands and arms. The employee must frequently lift and/or move up to 50 pounds and occasionally lift and/or move more than 50+ pounds. The employee will be required to stand on their feet for long periods at a time.
