Job Description

Schedule: Typically 1 hour per week for 10 weeks (after school)Location: On-site at a partner high school; varies by assignmentStart Date: Rolling openings based on school schedulesPosition OverviewConcorde Education is seeking an engaging, student-centered 3D Design Instructor to facilitate a short-format after-school enrichment course for students. This course introduces learners to foundational 3D design concepts using Tinkercad, a browser-based 3D modeling platform. Students build spatial reasoning and design thinking skills by creating, modifying, and combining 3D shapes to produce original digital models.This is an enrichment course focused on hands-on learning and iterative design. The instructor will deliver instruction one day per week for approximately one hour across a typical 10-week cycle, with pacing adapted to student needs and site logistics.What You Will TeachStudents will learn the fundamentals of 3D design in Tinkercad, including shape creation, resizing/scaling, alignment, grouping and combining objects, measurement and proportion, and exporting designs for 3D printing. Instruction emphasizes practical design challenges that support spatial thinking, creativity, and problem-solving.Major Topics Can IncludeNavigating Tinkercad (workspace, view controls, basic tools)Creating and editing 3D shapes (move, rotate, scale)Alignment, duplication, symmetry, and precision designGrouping, combining, and using “holes” for subtractionMeasurement, dimensioning, and designing to constraintsIterative design process (draft, test, revise, improve)File saving, exporting, and print-readiness basics (as applicable)Introductory design thinking and prototyping workflowsResponsible technology use and collaboration normsReal-world applications of 3D modeling and 3D printingKey ResponsibilitiesDeliver a 10-session course with clear objectives and engaging instruction in a computer-based classroom settingTeach students how to use Tinkercad to create original 3D designs, with appropriate scaffolds for varying skill levelsFacilitate hands-on design challenges that build spatial reasoning and problem-solving skillsMaintain a safe, inclusive classroom culture and support productive collaborationCommunicate professionally with site staff and Concorde program contacts regarding attendance and session completion trackingAdapt pacing and activities to match student readiness while maintaining course outcomesSupport students in creating a culminating set of designs that demonstrates skill growth and applied learningQualifications (Required)Minimum of 60 college credits (or Associate degree in progress/completed)Experience with or strong familiarity using Tinkercad and introductory 3D modeling conceptsInterest and/or experience working with school-age students in structured learning environmentsStrong facilitation, communication, and classroom presenceReliable, punctual, and professional; able to follow school policies and program boundariesComfort supporting students on Chromebooks or school-issued computers in a web-based design platform
