The successful candidates will provide academic support to student inquiries pertaining to online course content and course completion with subject matter expertise.TVO ILC is in search of an Academic Officer specializing in English, Mathematics, Science (Chemistry, Physics and/or Biology), Business and/or Accounting.How You Will Make An ImpactAssist students with academic queries and course content clarifications in a timely mannerLiaise effectively with Academic Manager and Guidance Counsellors to optimize student support and successProvide support to the Administrative Unit on any issues related to the academic content of ILC courses and course selectionAssess and evaluate ILC course student submission in the teacher’s area of specialization, following Growing Success guidelinesStay current on Ministry of Education updates and initiativesAdhere to the Standards of Practice and Ethical Standards for the Teaching ProfessionLiaise with ILC Teacher Markers in specific subject areasPerform other duties as assignedWhat You Will Bring To TVOMust be an OCT certified teacher and member in good standing with the Ontario College of Teachers with Intermediate/Senior qualifications in English, Mathematics, Science (Chemistry, Physics and/or Biology), Business and/or Accounting.Fluency in French is an asset. Must have demonstrated knowledge of the Ontario Ministry of Education curriculum, policies and guidelines, and legal and ethical issues related to teaching.Comfortable working with technology including Learning Management Systems (Brightspace), Student Records Systems and using various software applications, MS Teams, Office, Word, Excel, and OutlookSolutions driven individual with excellent judgement and problem-solving abilitiesHighly developed interpersonal skills with a demonstrated sensitivity towards a diverse group of learnersExcellent people skills with a proven ability to work in a team environmentMust have knowledge of all relevant Ministry of Education policies and documents, relevant to secondary school panel, with solid understanding of course selection, course sequencing pursuant to student educational pathways and educational options relating to distance learningExperience developing, and providing accommodations based on the needs of all students; including knowledge of special education, documentation, and legislation (AODA)Highly developed English communication skills – oral and writtenDemonstrates TVO's values of Excellence & Innovation, Ownership, Collaboration, Trust and RespectTVO & YOUWe are a learning organization.
