Queensland State Archives (QSA) connects Queenslanders with their past—the histories of families, local communities, and the state by looking after the largest documentary heritage collection in Queensland. QSA has an exciting opportunity for an enthusiastic Access Archivist to join our team to undertake a range of archival duties.If you have experience in undertaking research and analysis, delivering customer service and can demonstrate high-level written and interpersonal communication skills, we’d love to hear from you!We are looking for an Access Archivist to join our team in this front-facing role to undertake a range of archival duties to enhance the discoverability of, and access to, paper-based and born-digital records in the collection and to facilitate access to the collection for public customers and government agencies both onsite and online. You will work in a diverse team and engage with a range of internal and external stakeholders.In This Role You Willundertake archival reference and research activities using the QSA archival management systemdeliver archival reference and research services to the public via telephone, email and onsite in the Reading Roomcontribute to projects to enhance understanding and use of the QSA collection through education, public programs, and the development of finding aids and guidesparticipate in and/or contribute to the development of the archival management system, including arrangement and description activities, and improvements to the systemreview and maintain archival practices in line with national and international trends and best practice, including the Australian Series Systemprepare reports, presentations, correspondence and other documents as requiredsupport the supervision and training of staff and students in archival practices to promote learning and knowledge building as requiredpromote an environment of strong customer service, collaboration and teamwork to achieve quality outcomes within agreed performance measuresother duties as directed by the Manager, Access Services.For further details about what the role entails and how you will be assessed, weencourage you to read the attached role description and talk to the contact officer.Applications remain current for 12 months and may be considered for identical or similar vacancies.Occupational group Information Management/Library
