Job Description

We are seeking highly motivated Accountant who will be responsible for helping to oversee the daily general accounting functions of our business. This is an in-house position (no hybrid or remote work). Overall basic duties include filing monthly sales tax returns, recording financial data correctly, reconciliation, generating financial reports, analyzing data to identify opportunities to improve company performance and efficiency.Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:Prepare financial reports and accounting statementsPost journal entries to general ledgerRoutine data entry management for accounting recordsAssist with hourly payroll administration Proof accounting reports for clerical accuracyAllocate expenditures to correct accountsCode invoices, create new accounts, reconcile accountsAssist in month/year end activitiesAnalyze financial information to identify opportunities for company improvementWork with cross functional teams to solve company challenges and implement solutionsReconcile key general ledger accounts to ensure balance accuracyReview billing statements, invoices, and similar documents for accuracy; alert staff of any discrepanciesProcessing weekly check runsAssist with tax audits as neededComplete and submit monthly/annual sales and use tax, as requiredMaintain confidentiality to protect organizational valueAssist with ad hoc projects, such as product/labor cost analysis, sales/cost variances, and budget/forecast preparationRequirementsBachelor's degree in accounting, finance, or a related field2-3 years of general financial accounting experience (payroll experience a plus)Understanding of and ability to adhere to generally accepted accounting principlesHighly proficient with accounting software, MS Office (particularly Excel) including data entry with the ability to learn other softwareStrong math skills and in-depth knowledge of accounting/financial processes (budgeting, financial closure, etc.)Proficiency with payroll processing tools (such as PeopleSoft, Paychex, etc. is desirable)Ability to multi-task and prioritize tasks effectively Must have effective verbal and written skills and be able to follow verbal and written instructionsStrong organizational skills and a high level of attention to detail with a desire to learn our businessMust be able to work (in office) Mondays - Fridays (8:00am - 5:00pm).
