Job Description

Your Role at CabotWe are seeking a detail-oriented Accountant to support the activities in the accounting department and manage and ensure compliance with indirect tax (VAT) regulations across multiple jurisdictions in Europe. This role is critical for the finance operations of the Swiss Principal company and ensuring accurate and timely VAT reporting/filings. This role involves close collaboration with various departments across Cabot and the Shared Service Center. Based in our EMEA headquarters in Schaffhausen, the role will report directly to Finance Manager for Switzerland.How You Will Make an ImpactSupport monthly, quarterly and annual closing processes ensuring accuracy, timeliness and compliance with GAAP & company policies.Responsible for VAT returns filing for the Swiss Principle in accordance with local regulations and deadlines in multiple EU countries:Prepare, review, and submit VAT returns and Intrastat declarations across relevant countries.Review and reconcile VAT accounts, ensuring accuracy in financial statements.Conduct regular VAT compliance checks and address any discrepancies.Monitor changes in VAT legislation to ensure company compliance.Advise internal departments on VAT implications of business transactions.Liaise with tax authorities for VAT registrations, audits, and queries.Ensure timely and accurate VAT filings and payments.Manage VAT-related issues with clients and suppliers.Analyze financial data to provide VAT-related insights and recommendations.Coordinate with international teams for cross-border VAT issues.Assist in the preparation of budgets and forecasts, monitor financial performance.Maintain an effective internal controls environment (SoX) to safeguard company assets and ensure accurate financial reporting.Identify opportunities for process improvements and implement best practices in financial operations.What You Will Bring to CabotDegree in Accounting/Finance or related field; professional certification is a plus.3+ years accounting experience incl. VAT compliance, preferably in a multinational environment.Strong understanding of VAT regulations, compliance, and reporting.Adaptable to changing regulations and able to provide training/support on VAT matters.Knowledge of Swiss GAAP and US GAAP of advantage.Strong communication and analytical skills with attention to detail.Proficiency in Excel, accounting software and ERP systems.Ability to work independently and manage multiple deadlines.Fluent in English and German; other language skills are a plus.Additional informationPermanent contract.This position can be offered as a full-time role or part-time (80%), with the possibility to discuss an even lower workload based on individual circumstances.Growth and Development within an international company.Hybrid work schedule (3 days on site and 2 days’ work from home).A unique opportunity to work within a global multinational framework.Ongoing professional development and training.Employer committed to Sustainability, Diversity & Inclusion.
