Job Description

Role purposeWe're looking to recruit an Accounts Payable Assistant for our Finance department.As the postholder, you will work as part of a busy Payments Team within the Finance dept, to ensure that exceptional service is provided to our member/ brokers and internal customers.What will you be doing?Key responsibilities will include:Working as part of a team to ensure payments are made correctly, in a timely manner, in line with internal approval guidelines and authority limits;Preparing and linking supporting documentation for each payment;Taking your turn on any team rotas if appropriate;Covering other payment roles as necessary;Dealing with initial internal and external queries in a timely manner, to include escalation if required;General administration;Supporting/ buddying new members of the team where required;Using banking and accounting software;Attending team and finance meetings:Identifying errors and providing all necessary backups/reports for a correction;Ensuring the head of department or senior executive is informed about any process failure, to enable them to complete the incident and near miss reporting.About youSkills/Qualifications/ExperienceEssentialAttention to detail and ability to work accurately;Good team-working skills;Good communication skills, verbal and written;Numeracy skills;Proactive ideas and initiative;Intermediate Microsoft Excel skills;Basic accounting experience/skillsWho we areWe are a specialist marine insurer and a member of the International Group of Protection and Indemnity clubs, owned by its shipowner members and controlled by a board of directors drawn from its membership.
