Job DescriptionBaycrest Hospital has an opportunity for aACCOUNTS PAYABLE CLERKAccounts Payable DepartmentPosition Type: Temporary Full-Time (up-to 12 months)Shift Type: Day, No Weekends (subject to change)Hourly Pay Rate: $25.94 - $28.26Bi-Weekly Hours: 70 HoursHours of Work: 7 hrs/shiftPosting Number: 9309Union: SEIU ClericalDate Posted: October 21, 2025Internal Closing Date: October 30, 2025The Corporate Financial Services department is responsible for meeting financial information requirements of both internal and external customers, including budgeting and planning, reporting, financial analysis and statistics, accounts payable and general accounting. Responsibilities include but are not limited to:Verifying documentation for payment requests receivedEnsuring appropriate signing authority levels on requests for paymentLiaising with Supply Chain for payments processed through a Purchase OrderMatching payment documentation to remittancesInitiating and following-up on missing correspondence with Cost Centre ManagersEnsuring accuracy with taxes paid on invoices and ensuring appropriate rebates are appliedEnsuring appropriateness of cost centres and expense accounts usedProviding backup to Accounts Payable Supervisor and fellow Accounts Payable ClerkReconciling vendor statements on a monthly basisPreparing journal entries (monthly accruals etc.) for review by the Accounts Payable SupervisorEnsuring adherence to Baycrest policies and proceduresAdhering to infection control practices, policies and proceduresProcessing payments according to Baycrest policies and terms of paymentOther duties assigned.Qualifications include but are not limited to:Post-secondary school education in bookkeepingMinimum of one (1) year related experiencePrevious experience working in a health care/long-term care environment with knowledge of OHRS/MIS guidelines (healthcare chart of accounts) is an assetUnderstanding of accounting and financial systems, including Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (‘GAAP’) and Public Sector Accounting Standards (‘PSAP’)Working knowledge of the Freedom of Information & Personal Privacy Act (‘FIPPA’)Knowledge of Meditech – Accounts Payable system and general ledger (Smartstream™) software an assetAdvanced computer skills and the ability to work with Microsoft Office software including Word, Excel, Outlook and accounting databasesExcellent interpersonal, written, verbal and listening communication skillsExcellent organizational, planning and time management skills and the ability work effectively and accurately under pressureDemonstrated excellent customer service skillsAbility to distil and articulate financial information into clear, concise messages, often for persons in non-financial rolesAdditional Benefits:Vacation EntitlementOpportunity to enroll in Baycrest Health and Dental Benefit PlanOpportunity to enroll in the Healthcare of Ontario Pension Plan (HOOPP)Access to 24/7 Employee Assistance ProgramINTERNAL APPLICANTS: Current Baycrest employees must apply online through the Baycrest intranet.
