About the RoleReporting to the Accounts Payable and Receivable Manager, The Accounts Payable Specialist will assist with the accounting, reporting and day to day operations of Equiton’s properties under management.This position will collaborate with various teams and work closely with the Senior Property Accountants, Suppliers, the Property Management Team and the Residential Managers to ensure we apply best practices and methodologies in accounting and financial reporting.Key ResponsibilitiesResponsible for processing Properties related invoices in an accurate and timely mannerWork closely with the property management team to issue month-end accrual reports for open Purchase OrdersSet up utilities, taxes, and outstanding vendors on pre-Authorized payment plansAssist vendors/suppliers with payment questions or payment statusReview vendor statements and match with any Open Purchase OrdersAssist Property Accountants reconcile daily bank activity as it relates to A/PBook intercompany journal entries from corporate to propertiesSupport in processing daily deposits and update the tenant ledgers related to AR (1st of the month deposits)Maintaining and reconciling rent rolls and resident ledgers as neededAd hoc responsibilities and special projects as requiredWhat You Bring: The successful candidate will be a self-starter that enjoys working in a fast-paced environment, has a strong commitment to deadlines and the team, is detail and process oriented with a high sense of ownership in their work, with superior analytical and communication skills.Analytical and Forward thinking: tackle problems by using a logical, systematic, and sequential approach, anticipating problems and contingency plansCommunication: be able to articulate ideas and concepts clearly and conciselyCollaboration and Customer Service: approachable, supportive, team oriented and go above and beyond normal duties to strive for successGoal and results-oriented: reliable and can be counted on to meet and exceed goals, and steadfastly move self and others towards results – advocate of change, generator of new and improved ideas, creative problem-solving and take initiativeUndergraduate degree in accounting, finance, or other relevant technical discipline with a minimum of 1-2 years of experience.Strong working knowledge of Yardi (preferred).Strong knowledge of Microsoft products specifically Excel and Word.Strong interpersonal and communication skills.Genuinely curious with a desire to understand key metrics and drivers.Predictive Index AssessmentsAs part of our hiring process, candidates complete two short assessments from Predictive Index:A Behavioural Assessment (5–10 minutes, untimed) to understand your work and communication style.A Cognitive Assessment (12-minute timed) to measure learning and problem-solving abilities.These are not tests of intelligence or experience, they simply help us understand how you work best.👉 Start the Behavioural Assessment here: https://assessment.predictiveindex.com/bo/3S57/APSpecialistAfter completing the first assessment, you’ll receive an email with instructions for the second assessment.About Us Founded in 2015, Equiton is one of Canada’s fastest-growing private equity firms, helping Canadians build wealth through high-quality real estate investments.
