To learn more about the NC Department of Labor, please visit our website at https://www.labor.nc.gov/.Description Of WorkThe maximum recruitment salary for this position is $44,393.The Occupational Safety and Health Division (OSH Division or OSHNC) of the Department of Labor, under the direction of the North Carolina Deputy Commissioner of Labor, is the lead state agency with the responsibility of fostering safe and healthy workplaces for more than four million employees and migrant workers in more than two hundred seventy-five thousand workplaces in North Carolina by educating, developing, and enforcing compliance to safety, health, and agriculture laws, rules, regulations, and standards.Agricultural Safety and Health Bureau: The Division of Occupational Safety and Health of the Department of Labor is the lead agency with the responsibility of fostering safe and healthy workplaces for employees and migrant workers in North Carolina. The Agricultural Safety and Health (ASH) Bureau’s primary purpose is to ensure the safety and health of agricultural workers in the state. The Bureau enforces the Migrant Housing Act of North Carolina and the Occupational Safety and Health Standards for Agriculture (29 CFR Part 1928). The Bureau performs preoccupancy inspections of migrant housing, conducts compliance inspections to identify safety and health hazards in the workplace, provides bilingual educational training programs for agricultural employers and their workers, and recognizes agricultural employers who provide exemplary migrant housing through the Gold Star Grower program.This position provides a variety of administrative support services for the Agricultural Safety and Health Bureau. Primary duties include performing extensive casefile management for pre-occupancy migrant housing inspections and all compliance inspections/investigations assigned to the Bureau. In addition, the position is responsible for answering incoming telephone calls, drafting and typing documents, processing mail, copying and distributing information, scheduling appointments and meetings, maintaining office equipment, and maintaining inventory of office supplies. This position participates in Bureau management meetings and assists in implementing effective systems to improve workflow and productivity.
