This position is responsible for coordinating admissions, ensuring all necessary documentation is accurately completed, and facilitating communication between patients, families, and clinical staff. The specialist serves as the first point of contact for prospective patients, providing detailed information about services and guiding them through eligibility and enrollment procedures. By maintaining meticulous records and adhering to regulatory requirements, the Admissions Specialist helps optimize patient flow and supports the overall operational success of the facility. Ultimately, this role ensures a seamless and positive experience for patients entering care at Cornerstone, 55.Minimum Qualifications:High school diploma or equivalent required; Associate’s degree or higher in health administration or related field preferred.Minimum of 2 years experience in a healthcare admissions or patient services role.Strong knowledge of healthcare regulations, patient privacy laws (HIPAA), and insurance verification processes.Proficiency with electronic health record (EHR) systems and standard office software.Excellent communication and interpersonal skills with the ability to handle sensitive situations professionally.Preferred Qualifications:Bachelor’s degree in Health Administration, Nursing, or related discipline.Experience working in a hospital, clinic, or long-term care facility admissions department.Familiarity with medical terminology and healthcare billing procedures.Certification in Patient Access or Healthcare Administration is a plus.Bilingual abilities to support diverse patient populations.Responsibilities:Coordinate and manage the patient admissions process from initial inquiry through enrollment, ensuring timely and accurate completion of all required documentation.Serve as the primary liaison between patients, families, and clinical teams to facilitate clear communication and address any questions or concerns.Verify patient eligibility and insurance information, collaborating with billing and finance departments to resolve discrepancies.Maintain comprehensive and confidential patient records in compliance with healthcare regulations and organizational policies.Assist in developing and implementing admission protocols to improve efficiency and patient satisfaction.Provide detailed information about health care services, treatment options, and facility policies to prospective patients and their families.Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to support patient care planning and transition processes.Skills:The Admissions Specialist utilizes strong organizational skills daily to manage multiple patient files and ensure all documentation is complete and accurate. Effective communication skills are essential for interacting with patients, families, and clinical staff, providing clear explanations and empathetic support throughout the admissions process. Proficiency with electronic health record systems enables efficient data entry and retrieval, supporting compliance with healthcare regulations. Problem-solving skills are applied when verifying insurance coverage and resolving discrepancies to facilitate smooth admissions. Additionally, attention to detail and confidentiality are critical to maintaining patient trust and adhering to privacy laws.
