Job Description SummaryAdvanced Lead Preliminary Mechanical Design Engineer leads mechanical development for early engine designs within the Preliminary Design organization. This role incorporates creation of technical analysis necessary to build preliminary engine feasibility, cross-sections, weight, and mechanical trade studies. The Advanced Lead Engineer demonstrates accountability for functional, business, and broad company objectives to develop innovative preliminary design concepts, simultaneously meeting aggressive cost and performance/weight targets for key next generation engine applications from TG0 to TG3. This will require collaboration with systems engineering and technologists across the Future of Flight organization along with members of GE Aerospace’s global engineering team.Job DescriptionSite Overview:GE Aerospace has an advanced engineering center located in İstanbul, Kartal, complemented by cutting-edge laboratories in Kocaeli, Gebze. Join us and find an opportunity to shape the future of flight.Role OverviewWork with global engineering teams to understand advanced technologies and their implications on next generation products.Conduct design studies of appropriate fidelity and project analysis with minimal guidance, meeting business standards and requirements.Create plans to meet technical needs, solve problems, and report status to leadership. Ensure utilization of business and organization best practices and design practices. Ensure study outcomes are properly documented.Part of a cross-functional team of adjacent disciplines (Aerothermal, Cycle/Performance, Mechanical, Cost, Systems) to drive optimal engine design & cost to meet technical and business objectivesOwn the cross-section for preliminary design architecture studies, including weight roll-ups and mechanical component sizing, to support successful execution of program deliverables Monitor and communicate project status, business issues and significant developmentsPerform weight reviews and audits as required for customer commitments and design space studiesDevelopment and integration of parametric tools to enable parametric design space exploration and optimization studies Prepare invention disclosures to protect technology that gives the business a competitive advantage, as well as protecting the intellectual property rights of the companyLead or participate in organizational efforts in assigned projects and/or tasksThe Ideal CandidateAn ideal candidate has proven experience in aerospace industry with strong project management skillset, excellent communication, problem-solving abilities, performs in flexible design space with innovative design solutions.Required QualificationsBachelor's or Master's degrees in Aeronautical/Mechanical/Aerospace Engineering departments from an accredited college or university5+ years of experience in an engineering position Preferred Qualifications8+ years' experience in mechanical engineering positionStrong knowledge in mechanical, gas turbine or propulsion design fundamentals, experience in detail product designStrong analytical and problem solving skillsSystems thinking, ability the simplify complex, uncertain problems to find solutions with positive business outcomesExperience with Unigraphics NX or similar CAD programPrior experience performing with global cross-functional teamsProblem analysis and resolution skillsStrong oral and written communication skills Strong interpersonal and leadership skillsGE Aerospace Türkiye Offers You The FollowingBeing part of a dynamic global teamHybrid working model opportunityFlexible benefit planEnhanced paternity leaveHealth insurance with wide coverage including spouse and childrenFitness BenefitLife AssuranceEmployee Assistance ProgramEmployee Referral ProgramAt GE Aerospace, we have a relentless dedication to the future of safe and more sustainable flight and believe in our talented people to make it happen.
