Bringing true, meaningful value to our clients and the communities we serve and creating a real sense of purpose for you.Job DescriptionTo manage and mitigate the legal risks, provide legal advisory and implement adequate controls with regards to all legal matters pertaining to the PPB segment, ensuring that the segment’s activities adhere to the provisions of the Laws of the Federal Republic of Nigeria especially with respect to the Stanbic IBTC ethical and financial practices within the industry. The Legal Advisor will work closely with other PPB Legal Lawyers to provide legal, regulatory, reputational and transactional advice and support in relation to the activities of the PPB business segment, with the objective of assisting the business heads achieve their business goals in a manner consistent with sound risk management.Key ResponsibilitiesResponsible for providing timely, commercial and judgement based legal advice on key issues affecting the industry especially as it relates to the PPB segment.Providing legal opinions on matters directly affecting the PPB segment’s operational structure.Build relationships with external counsels and other members of the PPB Legal team.Draft, vet and review Legal Documents such as Deed of Assignment, Deed of Sublease, Deed of Legal Mortgage and other documents required for perfection of title/legal mortgage.Providing sound legal opinion and advice to the branches and unit within the business.Liaise as an intermediary between units/departments and external parties including external legal counsel, and at meetings where legal representation is required.QualificationsBachelors-in-Law from a university (LLB) as well as the Nigerian Law School (B.L) requiredExperience Required3-4 years experience in handling legal issues, relating with regulators and external solicitors.3-4 years experience in legal mortgage and commercial transactions will be an added advantage.Additional InformationBehavioural Competencies:Checking ThingsConvincing PeopleDocumenting FactsExamining InformationFollowing ProceduresInteracting with PeopleMaking DecisionsManaging TasksMeeting TimescalesTaking ActionTeam WorkingUpholding StandardsTechnical Competencies:Business Acumen (Audit)Customer Understanding ( Consumer Banking)Email MonitoringPromote Good Governance, Risk & ControlRecords and Archive ManagementWritten Communication
