The Aga Khan Hospital, Kisumu has Outreach Health Services at Kisii, Kakamega, Kitale, Bungoma, Kericho, Kibuye-Kisumu, West End- Kisumu, Busia, Homa - Bay, Migori, Bomet, Eldoret, Kimilili, Nyamira and Kabarnet. The Hospital is seeking to attract interested and qualified candidates for the following professional position: LABORATORY TECHNOLOGIST (LOCUM) - KIMILILI, BOMET, KABARNET AND KERICHOOVERALL RESPONSIBILITYReporting to the Laboratory Manager, the successful candidate will ensure provision of effective, efficient, and quality laboratory analytical services in the Hospital. Key ResponsibilitiesReceive, process laboratory samples, and release accurate results in a timely manner following established procedures.
Participate in maintaining and monitoring quality assurance measures, including internal quality controls and proficiency testing, to ensure accurate and reliable results. Perform routine maintenance and troubleshooting of laboratory equipment to ensure optimal performance. Maintain detailed records and archives of laboratory procedures, test results, and other relevant data. Adhere to laboratory safety protocols and regulations to maintain a safe working environment. Stay abreast of new developments and advances in medical laboratory techniques and technologies through continuing education and professional development activities. Ensure compliance with regulatory and standard requirements to sustain laboratory accreditation status.
The requirementsHigher National Diploma or Bachelor of Science in Medical Laboratory Sciences from a recognized institution. Minimum of three (3) years working experience in a busy medical laboratoryExperience in an accredited laboratory will be an added advantage. Registration with the Kenya Medical Laboratory Technicians and Technologists Board. A current practice license is mandatory. Strong attention to detail with excellent record-keeping skills. Effective communication and interpersonal skills. Capability to work both independently and collaboratively within a team.
