Job Description

We’re looking for a passionate Android Frontend Developer to join the engineering team at a leading US wellness-tech company. You’ll be responsible for developing and maintaining their Android app — delivering intuitive, high-performance, and visually polished experiences that reflect the quality and care behind our wellness platform.The company is a profitable, founder-led U.S. wellness tech business that’s just been repurchased from private equity and is undergoing a major transformation. With a stable core and fresh product focus, the next chapter is about evolving from transactional bookings to a broader, personalized wellness platform—leveraging device health data and habit-building experiences to deepen engagement. It’s a rare blend of startup-style velocity with mature scale and runway, where impactful work ships fast and shapes the company’s next generation.You’ll collaborate closely with designers, backend engineers, and product managers to create smooth, responsive interfaces and bring new features to life. The ideal candidate has strong experience with Kotlin (or Java), Android Jetpack components, and a solid understanding of RESTful API integrations and mobile UI/UX best practices.ResponsibilitiesDesign, develop, and maintain Android applications using Kotlin or Java with clean, scalable, and efficient code.Collaborate with design, backend, and product teams to implement seamless user flows and beautiful, responsive UIs.Integrate RESTful APIs to connect mobile frontends with backend systems.Ensure app performance, responsiveness, and stability across a wide range of devices and Android versions.Participate in code reviews, architecture discussions, and feature design planning.Debug, troubleshoot, and resolve issues related to crashes, performance, and memory usage.Contribute to the CI/CD pipeline, testing automation, and Play Store deployment workflows.Stay current with the latest Android SDKs, Google Play Services, and development trends.Collaborate to enhance our mobile ecosystem with new features and smooth cross-platform experiences.QualificationsProven experience developing and publishing Android apps (Play Store portfolio preferred).Strong proficiency in Kotlin (and/or Java).Solid understanding of Android SDK, Jetpack libraries, and Material Design principles.Experience integrating RESTful APIs and handling asynchronous operations with Coroutines or RxJava.Familiarity with MVVM, Clean Architecture, or similar architectural patterns.Experience with Git, CI/CD, and modern build systems (Gradle, Android Studio).Strong debugging and performance optimization skills.Excellent communication skills in English and teamwork skills for a remote environment.Nice to HaveExperience with Push Notifications, Firebase SDKs (Analytics, Crashlytics, Messaging), and Google Maps SDK.Familiarity with Play Store Console, internal testing, and release pipelines.Understanding of multi-module architectures and dependency injection (e.g., Hilt/Dagger).Interest or experience in Flutter for future cross-platform initiatives.Passion for wellness, health tech, or consumer mobile apps.
