Make A DifferencePosition DescriptionTITLE: ArteVism FellowJOB CATEGORY: Non-ExemptSTATUS: Part-Time, 21 hours per week through August 30, 2026TYPE OF EMPLOYMENT: Specific TermDIRECT SUPERVISOR: Pan Valley Institute Program DirectorREGION/UNIT: US- West RegionLOCATION: Fresno, CA Fellowship is open to residents in surrounding counties such as Merced, Madera, Fresno, and Tulare.APPLICATION DEADLINE: Applications will be reviewed on a rolling basis.General Summary Of PositionThe Pan Valley Institute (PVI)ArteVism Program seeks to strengthen the agency and voice of youth of color in advancing more inclusive policies, advocating for the rights of immigrants, Indigenous peoples, women, and LGBTQ+ people, and confronting racism and discrimination in ways that lead to building thriving communities, climate, and economic justice.The ArteVism Fellow, with the support of ArteVism Cultural Organizer and PVI staff, will participate in the work to expand PVI's capacity to engage a broader public beyond a small cohort of fellows in the critical work of using art and culture to address pressing public problems. Alongside the Cultural Organizer, the Fellow will participate and learn to curate and stage creative public programming that emerged as critical during the ArteVism fellowship experience. The ArteVism Fellow, with the support of the Cultural Organizer, will bring new skills and creative approaches to the ongoing work of PVI and will transition ArteVism’s previously internal focus to be more community-facing.Essential Functions / Responsibilities And AccountabilitiesCollaborate with ArteVism Cultural Organizer and PVI staff and work to expand PVI’s capacity to engage a broader public beyond a small cohort of fellows in the critical work of using art and culture to address pressing public programs. The ArteVism Fellows will:Learn to develop a three-year implementation plan for the ArteVism program in collaboration with the ArteVism Cultural Organizer and PVI staff.Support the ArteVism Cultural Organizer in organizing one residential gathering.Assist in coordinating at least one public forum on active citizenship.Participate in some activities of one multi-media exhibit.Participate and support Cultural Organizer in presenting the acto “My Relationship with American History.”Participate and learn to develop the artistic component of the second International Encuentros Salt of the Earth, Cultivating Climate, Food, and Land Justice.Support ArteVism Cultural Organizer in seeking collaboration opportunities with organizations doing similar work to the ArteVsim program.Build a relationship with ArteVism alumni and other PVI alums.Engage in most PVI program work, such as the economic, climate, and food justice initiatives, as well as other program activities.Attend meetings as needed.Support PVI staff in the program’s administrative activities.Regular attendance and punctuality are required.Operates safely in all conditions and follows policies and procedures.Other duties and projects assigned.Supervisory / Management RequirementsNo direct supervisory responsibilities.Minimum Experience And QualificationsEducation: High School diploma or equivalent is required.Minimum one year of experience in of leadership experience from Central Valley’s immigrant, refugee, and disenfranchised communities is preferred. This experience is broadly defined and includes working within communities to organize cultural events or engage in social issues.Some experience in promoting and implementing activities that connect culture, creative expression, and active citizenship.Some experience organizing teams to accomplish an event or series of events.Basic knowledge of the cultural, economic, political, and social impacts that have shaped Central Valley immigrant and refugee communities.Have a commitment to community and social change work.Ability to build relationships across ethnicities.Ability to work in the evenings and/or weekends and to travel, as required. Ability to work effectively independently and within a team environment.Experience with standard Microsoft Office and related technology.Must be capable of working under tight time constraints in a high-volume environment with multiple priorities.Demonstrated ability to work and communicate with diverse staff.Respect for Quaker values and testimonies. This position is non-exempt, Salary Family: Fellow, Job Code: Fellow. The starting hourly rate is $29.67.
