About This RoleThe role is responsible for installing, calibrating, maintaining, and repairing mechanical and electronic instruments that support automation, data collection, and system control in industrial operations. This role also ensures equipment functions within specified parameters, manages maintenance schedules, identifies and resolves faults, and works closely with operations teams to maintain the reliability and availability of critical systems. Key ResponsibilitiesEnsure relevant Safety, Mining and other statutory Codes and Regulations remain in full compliance at your workplace. Comply with all site safety and environmental policies. Ensure Jaw crusher is set to its correct opening and ready to work.
Ensure work is undertaken in compliance with H&S (e. g. , isolation, lock out and tag out), quality and environmental standards and procedures. Assist to create and implement Standard Operating Procedures (SOP’s)Maintain equipment such as Programable Logic Controllers, Variable Frequency Drives, and alarm and telemetry systems. Inspect, calibrate and maintain measuring instruments such as pH meters, dissolved oxygen probes, pressure and level indicators, atmosphere monitoring, and flow and temperature indicating equipment. Install, performs preventive maintenance on repairs and replaces electrical components or equipment, conduit and cables.
Troubleshoots equipment problems recommends the time, equipment and materials required to effect repairs and perform emergency repairs when required. Inspects and maintains switchgears, breakers, cogeneration system electrical components, emergency standby generator transfer controls, and various battery backup systems. Uses a variety of hand tools and electronic test equipment. Reads and interprets specifications, diagrams, manuals, and other documentation. Designs equipment installations and modifications; makes required mathematical calculations; prepares schematics and diagrams for documenting installations; determines supplies and materials required. Confers with facility staff to determine equipment problems and suggest methods of minimizing such problems.
Understands conduit conductor fill allowances and proper conductors for amperage loads. Observes appropriate safety procedures, properly uses safety equipment (PPE), and works to applicable codes and guidelinesEnsure all spare parts materials and tools needed for maintenance works are available for work. Enforce housekeeping standards in all areas of responsibility. Ensure good communication lines with peer Supervisors and Process Department personnel to ensure equipment operates according to SOP’s and all machinery/equipment is maintained, calibrated and replaced according to supplier recommendation and industry best practice ready to meet demand.
Education, Work Experience & Key CompetenciesBachelor's degree/ Higher National Diploma in Electrical & Electronic Engineering or a related qualification from a recognized institution. Minimum of five (5) years’ working experience in a mining industry. Exhibit strong understanding of technical, production and maintenance strategies for large-scale, continuous operating mineral processing plants. Possess a valid Driver’s License with good defensive driving skills. Effective communication skills, both written and verbal.
