*Remote Role* (In the US)Assistant Controller (Director of Accounting) - PE Portfolio Company (Data Center Solutions)I'm working with one of my favorite clients, a rapidly growing PE owned Technology/Data Center Solutions company, to hire an Assistant Controller (Director of Accounting) for their team.Perfect for candidates who want to switch out of public accounting or who have a combo of public accounting and in-house experience (6-8+ years experience is the sweet spot) It goes without saying, but the Data Center industry is experiencing historic upside right now, driven by the rapid growth of AI. This opportunity is not only rare, but it’s also completely REMOTE.This role reports directly to the Controller (with a dotted line to the CFO) and will play a critical leadership role on the team. It’s not only about overseeing GL Accounting, but also about gaining exposure to other parts of the Finance organization and having an actual seat at the table for the company’s overall growth strategy and value creation efforts - for real!I know the Controller & CFO personally; they’re both incredible leaders and genuinely amazing people. Someone motivated to understand how things work because they’re genuinely interested - and who loves to unpack, put the puzzle pieces together, and present solutions.This role is a critical missing piece on the team, and for the right person, it will provide truly career-defining relationships and exposure.The team is looking for someone who loves new tech and uses it to uplevel the work they do - the tech stack is already best in class and in-place, and they really want someone who is forward looking and loves leaning into the tools, so they have more time to drive strategy - "wants someone who wants to automate 90% of their job"The role: Own the Accounting function for the org - lead and inspire a high performing team, ensure the team adopts the new technology/tech stack and drive automationIn addition to month, quarter, and year end close, advise senior management on state of the business and financial strategyLeadership & team development - manage, coach, and develop one direct report with potential to hire additional in the future - fostering accountability and professional growth, and good ideas!Operational controls & process improvementWork cross functionally - relationship building is keyKey Attributes: Hands-on and detail-oriented, with a commitment to accuracy!Must be able to operate with ambiguity & dive inNeed a good sense of humor and ability to move quickly to fit in!Process-driven mindset, skilled at identifying inefficiencies and implementing practical solutions.Strong collaborator, effective at working across departments and building trusted relationships.Adaptable and resilient in a fast-paced, PE-backed environment. Qualifications: Must have NetSuite experience (or come straight from public accounting) CPA highly preferred. 6–8 years of progressive accounting experience, including GL Accounting - with preference for someone who has experience in payroll accounting and commissions calculations, and WIP/Project Accounting is highly preferred Ideal background is a combo of in-house and public accounting experience. Can come straight from audit team in public accounting (4-6 years).At least 1–2 years of people management experience (direct or indirect).Strong knowledge of US GAAP and demonstrated experience owning the month-end close. In addition to NetSuite, experience with Ramp, PowerBI, and Salesforce strongly preferred.Experience in a PE-backed or high-growth company is a plus.Experience in industries with complex projects like Data Centers/Construction a plus.Compensation: Base salary of $165k - $185k + competitive cash bonusCompletely Remote!
