Assistant Controller

We’re looking for an analytical and detail-oriented Assistant Controller to support the accounting and finance operations. The successful candidate will assist with month-end and year-end close processes, financial reporting, and process improvement initiatives. This role is ideal for someone who enjoys working in a collaborative environment and has a passion for accuracy and continuous improvement.Key Responsibilities:Support the Controller in managing all accounting operations including accounts payable, accounts receivable, general ledger, and payroll.Prepare and review journal entries, reconciliations, and financial statements.Assist with month-end, quarter-end, and year-end closing activities.Maintain internal controls to ensure compliance with company policies and regulatory standards.Assist with budgeting, forecasting, and variance analysis.Prepare audit schedules and liaise with external auditors.Support system and process improvement initiatives to enhance efficiency and accuracy.Provide mentorship and guidance to junior accounting staff.Perform ad hoc financial analysis and reporting as required.Qualifications:CPA designation (or in progress) preferred.Post-secondary degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.5 years of progressive accounting experience, ideally in a corporate or multi-entity environment.Strong understanding of GAAP and financial reporting principles.Proficiency in accounting software (e.g., Sage 300, QuickBooks, or similar) and Microsoft Excel.Excellent attention to detail, organizational, and problem-solving skills.Strong interpersonal and communication abilities with a collaborative mindset.
