Our community is a close-knit group of remarkable individuals driven by intellectual inquiry, a commitment to social justice, and a shared dedication to making a difference in the world.RequirementsJob OverviewThe Assistant Director of Athletics Communications, reporting to the Associate Director of Athletics for Communications, has a service-oriented role, requiring interactions within the Department of Athletics across a broad range of individuals and throughout department hierarchy, with administrators, coaches, and student-athletes, as well as with the media as a representative of Georgetown University.They assist in all aspects of public relations for assigned sports, including game coverage (with pre- and post- coverage), proactive and reactive media efforts, and maintenance of dissemination of all statistics.As well, they coordinate media and public relations functions, including contributing to website content for www.guhoyas.com, encompassing web streaming, video editing, social media and other multimedia.The Assistant Director of Athletics Communications manages publicity efforts for assigned sports, including communications with media for event coverage and feature stories on Georgetown student-athletes, teams and athletic accomplishments. They design, write and edit online and printed information guides, game programs, and press releases; and coordinate social media and networking initiatives, as well administer historical archiving of team information, records and photos.Work InteractionsWithin the Athletics Communications Office, Assistant Director of Athletics Communications supports the strategic framework of the Department of Athletics, and accordingly, works closely on a daily basis to support and assist the Associate Director of Athletics for Communications, all assigned sports, and other Communications Staff.This position has been designated as On-Campus. Complete details about Georgetown University’s mode of work designations for staff and AAP positions can be found on the Department of Human Resources website: https://hr.georgetown.edu/mode-of-work-designation.Requirements And QualificationsBachelor's degree - preferably in communications, public relations, journalism or another appropriate fieldAt least one year of full-time experience in sports information or athletic communications within intercollegiate athletics is preferredKnowledge of desktop publishing (e.g., Adobe Creative Suite, etc.) and statistical programs utilized for various sports (e.g., Stat Crew, NCAA Live Stats) - strongly encouraged, but not requiredStrong writing, interpersonal communication and computer skillsWillingness to work a great deal of overtime, including evenings and weekendsWorking Conditions and Physical Demands: Heavy Daily requirements to move items up to 10lbs of weight. Frequently required to move up to 50 pounds of weight and walk or stand with operation of controls.
