Applicants should demonstrate strong communication skills, adaptability, and a team-oriented approach that supports bold goals and contributes to delivering meaningful results.Position DescriptionReporting to the Sr. Director, Media Relations, the Sr. Coordinator, Media Relations, will support the daily operations of U.S. Soccer’s Media Relations team, collaborating across the Federation, particularly with the Marcomms, Advancement, and Commercial teams, to draft communications materials, manage editorial calendars, and monitor media coverage.The ideal candidate is an exceptional writer with a solid understanding of media relations tactics, strong organizational and project management skills, and the ability to balance competing deadlines.Primary ResponsibilitiesSupport the development and execution of U.S. Soccer’s national and global media relations strategy.Prepare pitches and help identify key reporters, editors, and influencers to secure impactful media coverage.Maintain internal project tracker and editorial calendar to help plan and track stories, deliverables and deadlines. Provide logistical support to ensure timely execution. Partner with the Manager, Media Relations, to coordinate day-to-day media inquiries and responses.Collaborate with internal teams to identify compelling stories for media.Prepare talking points, briefing materials, and press releases in alignment with U.S. Soccer’s messaging framework.Draft and distribute press releases, advisories, and media notes in alignment with U.S. Soccer’s communications framework.Maintain and update U.S. Soccer’s media contact database.Track and measure media coverage to evaluate the effectiveness of outreach efforts.RequirementsMinimum QualificationsBachelor’s degree in Communications, Public Relations, Journalism, or related field2-3 years of professional experience in communications, public relations, or related fieldStrong understanding of media relations principles and practicesGeneral knowledge of soccerCapable of working in fast-paced and demanding environmentsMust be able to connect “micro” details to the “macro” vision and missionAbility to work independently with sound judgment while also collaborating effectively within a team environmentProficiency with Microsoft Office Suite (Word, PowerPoint, Excel, and Outlook); experience with Adobe, Canva or similar design tools strongly preferredDesired QualificationsDemonstrated ability to manage multiple projects and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment.Experience in sports, entertainment, or related fieldAbility to work occasionally in the evenings and weekends as needed.U.S. Soccer offers a comprehensive compensation package, casual work environment, an inclusive culture, and an atmosphere for professional development.U.S. Soccer is an equal opportunity employer that is committed to diversity, equity, and inclusion, and prohibits discrimination and harassment of any kind on the basis of race, color, sex, religion, national origin, citizenship, pregnancy, sexual orientation, gender identity, age, disability, genetic information, military status, political belief, or any other characteristic protected under the law.
