Assistant Farm Manager

A Vacancy exist for a young graduate on a 1000+ hectare farm in the Sannieshof - Biesiesvlei farming community. The farm that boasts with state of the art equipment and technology farms corn, cattle and game. Recommended skills, knowledge and ability coupled with relevant experience in cattle farming will primarily be considered. Responsibilities / Duties: Feed, breed, and diagnose potential disease and injuries to the livestock to ensure that the cattle remains healthy. Keeping of necessary administrative records pertaining to and ensuring compliance with government regulations and health and safety standardsAnalysing existing operations, livestock, staff, and financial documents and recommend operational improvements to control cost associated with livestock, supplies, labour and alikeOrganise and schedule work to maximize efficiency and productivity Monitor both the work and work systems to ensure direct results are attained in herd performance according to set standards Assist in the marketing of stock and organizing cattle to be marketedScheduling and assist with repairs, maintenance on grounds, equipment and other related machineryEnsuring that the office and storerooms are kept clean and tidy.Grassland management as well as general all round assistance with other related activitiesTrain and motivate herdsman to implement the various work systems (nutrition, herd health and cattle management)Requirement: A relevant Agricultural diploma or degree Experience working with a large beef cattle herd will be advantageous Be able to do all related animal husbandry practices and grassland managementProficient in MicrosoftAbility to work independently and in a team.Maintenance and mechanically orientated.Ability to speak Tswana and a valid code 14 driver’s licence will be advantageous.
