Senior Accountant – Role SummaryThe Senior Accountant is responsible for managing and maintaining accurate financial records, ensuring compliance with accounting standards, and supporting financial reporting and analysis. This role involves overseeing day-to-day accounting operations, including ledger maintenance, accounts payable and receivable, payroll processing, and tax compliance. The Senior Accountant also supports audits, prepares financial reports, and provides actionable insights to management. Strong technical skills, attention to detail, analytical ability, and effective communication are essential to coordinate with internal teams and ensure financial accuracy and compliance.Responsibilities1. Financial Record KeepingMaintain Ledgers: Accurately record and maintain financial transactions in the general ledger.Reconcile Accounts: Regularly reconcile bank accounts, accounts payable, and accounts receivable to ensure accuracy.Document Transactions: Ensure all financial transactions are properly documented with supporting receipts and invoices.2. Financial ReportingPrepare Reports: Generate monthly, quarterly, and annual financial reports, including balance sheets, income statements, and cash flow statements.Assist with Financial Analysis: Support the preparation of financial analysis reports, identifying trends, variances, and financial performance indicators.3. Accounts Payable and ReceivableProcess Invoices: Review, verify, and process vendor invoices and expense reports for payment.Manage Receivables: Oversee and manage customer invoices, track payments, and follow up on overdue accounts.4. Payroll ProcessingAdminister Payroll: Process employee payroll, including calculating wages, deductions, and benefits. Ensure timely and accurate payment.Maintain Records: Keep detailed records of employee hours, leave, and other payroll-related information.5. Tax CompliancePrepare Tax Returns: Assist in preparing and filing various tax returns, including VAT, Withholding tax (TDS), Social Security (ESI), and income tax.Maintain Compliance: Ensure adherence to relevant tax laws and regulations.6. Compliance and AuditEnsure Compliance: Maintain compliance with accounting standards and company policies.Support Audits: Provide necessary documentation and support during internal and external audits.7. Communication and CoordinationCoordinate with Teams: Work closely with other departments to gather financial information and resolve issues.Report Financial Information: Communicate financial information and reports to management and other stakeholders as required.Qualifications1. EducationBachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, Business Administration, or a related field is required.2. CertificationsSemi-qualified Chartered Accountant (CA-Inter) certification is mandatory.3. Relevant Experience3–5 years of experience in accounting or finance roles.Experience in financial reporting, auditing, and general ledger maintenance is preferred.4. Skills & CompetenciesTechnical Skills: Proficiency in accounting software (e.g., Tally, SAP Business One) and Microsoft Office Suite, particularly Excel.Analytical Skills: Strong ability to analyze financial data, prepare reports, and derive actionable insights.Attention to Detail: Exceptional accuracy in managing financial records and transactions.Communication Skills: Effective verbal and written communication for interaction with team members and stakeholders.Problem-Solving: Capability to identify and resolve accounting discrepancies and challenges efficiently.
