Job Description

The Mespil Hotel has an exciting opportunity for a Assistant (Duty) Manager to join ourmanagement team.The Assistant Manager will oversee the operation of the hotel while on duty, ensure thatconsistently high standards of customer service are delivered at all times, and willreport directly to the Deputy General Manager. There are three Assistant Managers in thehotel who work alternate shifts.This is a challenging position for a highly motivated, hardworking individualinterested in developing themselves in the hospitality industry. Areas of responsibilitywill focus on the following areas:Hotel OperationsEnsuring the smooth operation of all departments within the hotel whileon dutyCorresponding meeting room confirmation to guestsAttending and participating in fortnightly management meetingsCommunicating relevant information with departments in a professionalmannerResponsible for the ensuring the exterior of the Hotel is maintained andpresentable on a daily basisEnsuring control systems in place are adhered to at all timesEnsuring a smooth thorough shift pass-over with Assistant Managersand the Nights teamCustomer ServicePromoting excellent customer service to our guestsHandling complaints and guest queries that arise in a professional andefficient manner and ensuring thorough and complete follow upCorresponding with guests in a professional manner via telephone andemailHealth and SafetyResponsible for the health, safety and welfare of both staff and guestsat all times while on dutyRecording all accidents, incidents and near misses that arise while onduty, following the correct proceduresEnsuring daily fire walks are completed and any hazards are reported orrectified promptlyImplementing the weekly cleaning rosters for back of house areas andfirst aid rostersPeople ManagementLeading and supervising the teams while on duty and leading byexampleAssisting in the delivery of staff trainingServing on hotel committees as requiredSupporting in the resolution of staff issuesAdministrationReport writingMinute taking at meetingsSupporting GDPR complianceThe successful candidate will be required to have:A third level qualification in a relevant areaExcellent customer care skillsStrong hotel experience in various departmentsExperience managing peopleExcellent communication and interpersonal skillsAbility to work on their own initiativeDemonstrate strong leadership qualitiesAbility to deal sensitively and appropriately with confidential informationBenefits include:A competitive salary.
