Assistant Production Manager

Position Title: Assistant Production Manager – MeteringLocation: LagosPosition Type: Full-TimePosition OverviewThe Assistant Production Manager – Metering will support the Production Manager in overseeing and coordinating all metering production activities. This role ensures smooth daily operations, optimal resource utilization, compliance with quality standards, and continuous improvement across the production line. The position also involves team leadership, problem-solving, and cross-functional coordination to meet production KPIs and organizational goals.Key ResponsibilitiesProduction ManagementAssist in overseeing daily production activities within the metering department.Ensure all production KPIs—quality, output, timelines—are consistently achieved.Monitor workflow and production schedules, making adjustments to meet deadlines.Identify and resolve bottlenecks to ensure smooth operations.Quality ControlEnsure compliance with metering product quality standards and regulatory requirements.Collaborate with the QA team on inspections, testing, and deviation management.Monitor product quality continuously and implement corrective actions where required.Team Leadership & DevelopmentSupervise and coordinate production staff, ensuring proper training and performance.Assist in hiring, developing, and mentoring production personnel.Conduct periodic performance evaluations and provide constructive feedback.Process ImprovementIdentify improvement areas to increase efficiency and reduce waste.Implement Lean Manufacturing principles and other industry best practices.Lead root-cause analysis (RCA) and implement CAPA for production issues.Resource ManagementEnsure raw materials and resources are available to meet production targets.Coordinate with procurement and inventory teams for smooth material flow.Track production costs and recommend ways to improve cost efficiency.Health, Safety & ComplianceEnsure adherence to all safety protocols in the production area.Promote a safe workplace culture and address safety concerns proactively.Stay updated with industry standards and ensure compliance at all times.Reporting & DocumentationAssist in preparing daily, weekly, and monthly production reports.Maintain accurate production logs, quality reports, and operational data.Highlight performance trends, challenges, and improvement areas to management.Collaboration & CommunicationCoordinate with engineering, maintenance, logistics, and other departments for seamless operations.Communicate production updates, risks, and achievements to senior leadership.Required QualificationsEducationBachelor’s degree in Industrial Engineering, Manufacturing, Electrical Engineering, or a related field.Certifications such as Lean Manufacturing or Six Sigma are an advantage.ExperienceMinimum 5 years of experience in a production environment.At least 1–2 years in a supervisory or team leader role.Experience in metering, instrumentation, or manufacturing is highly preferred.Experience operating a Meter Test Bench is mandatory.Strong knowledge of production planning, scheduling, and process optimization.
