Assistant Psychologist(CoAction West Cork Children's Disability Network Team)Specific Purpose Contract - 35 hours per weekClosing date: Friday 21st November 2025CoAction West Cork are looking for an Assistant Psychologist to cover the West Cork area. This is a specific purpose full time position.Please note that a 12 month panel may be formed from these interviews from which future permanent, temporary, part-time or full-time vacancies may be recruited for.Job DescriptionThis job description indicates the main functions and responsibilities of the post and is subject to review and amendment in light of changing circumstances and may include other duties and responsibilities as may be determined from time to time by the Director of Services/CEO or designated Line Manager. You will be given as much notice of such changes as possible.Responsible to: Children's Disability Network Manager (CDCM)Base: You will be providing comprehensive psychological services within the West Cork catchment area. Your base will be in West Cork.Overall Purpose Of PositionThe Assistant Psychologist will work as part of an interdisciplinary team under the direct supervision of the Senior or Principal Psychologist. It is expected that they will respect the principles and ethos of the organisation and adhere to the professional guidelines as laid down by the Psychological Society of Ireland.Main Responsibilities To carry out a range of psychological assessments as required. To complete psychological reports. To work with children and their families as appropriate with regard to assessments, outcomes, interventions and reviews. To actively participate in West Cork Children’s Disability Network Team (WCCDNT) meetings e.g. psychology meetings, area meetings, IndividualisedFamily Service Plan (IFSP) meetings etc. as appropriate. To provide or assist in the provision of training to staff, parents and be involved in the planning and implementation of Sibling Support Groups. To work as part of the interdisciplinary team and to be involved in team assessments and team interventions. To liaise with other professionals and organisations as appropriate and to represent the organisation at meetings, seminars, conferences, etc. To keep records and submit reports as may be required by Head of Psychology and or the CDNM To be proactive in the planning of supervision meetings and come prepared for these. To take responsibility for ones own continued professional development in conjunction with Clinical supervisor and or CNDM. To keep up to date with best practice procedures and at all times to work within the parameters of the professional Code of Ethics as laid down by the Psychological Society of Ireland and also within the ethos of CoAction West Cork.General ParticularsThis is a 35 hours per week postAnnual Leave – 25 days RemunerationThe remuneration for this post will be based on the salary for an Assistant Psychologist.Other RequirementsEach candidate must have their own means of transport and a full driving licence.If being processed for appointment, original documentation will be sought for: All qualification requirements for the post and any additional qualification(s) that you may be awarded marks for at interview.
