This is an excellent opportunity for a motivated individual with a passion for software development to grow their skills in a fast-paced and dynamic environment.This is an entry level role, suited to someone at the beginning of their software engineering career who is eager to learn, contribute, and grow within a supportive and collaborative environment.You will work remotely from Vietnam as part of a cross-functional Scrum team, collaborating closely with engineers, QAs, designers, and product managers in Leicester. You will be supported by more experienced engineers, including a senior engineer based in Vietnam, who will provide mentorship and guidance as you build confidence in your technical and professional skills.Our stack includes PHP (Laravel) on the backend and modern frontend frameworks like React, VueJS, and AngularJS. You do not need prior professional experience with these technologies, however you should have a good foundation in programming principles and be ready to learn quickly. At this level, we are looking for someone who can take on well-defined tasks, ask thoughtful questions, and steadily build the ability to contribute to features and planning discussions.We want engineers who are curious, enthusiastic, and motivated to do things well. You will have the space to make mistakes, learn from them, and steadily grow into larger responsibilities with the support of the team.This is a fully remote role based in Vietnam. You will report to the Software Engineering Team Lead in Leicester and work closely with teammates across both Vietnam and the UK.What You’ll Do:Develop and maintain code for cloud-based SaaS applications using specified technologies (NextJS, React, Angular, or Vue for frontend; Node.js/Typescript, PHP, Python, or Go for backend)Write code and unit tests following company coding guidelinesParticipate in Agile development processes, including sprint planning, daily stand-ups, and retrospectivesDebug and resolve software defects and issuesCollaborate with other engineers, designers, and product managers to deliver high-quality softwareLearn and apply software engineering best practices under the guidance of senior team membersDocument code and technical designsWhat You’ll Bring:Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or equivalent and 0-1 years of relevant experience is required. Alternatively, an equivalent combination of education and experience is requiredExperience with e-commerce and with specific experience of Shopify a plus!Good understanding of programming principles, including data structures, object-oriented programming (OOP), and functional programmingFamiliarity with at least one frontend framework (React, Angular, or Vue)Familiarity with at least one backend language (e.g. Node.js/Typescript, PHP, Python, or Go)Good understanding of both relational databases and SQL and NoSQL databasesGood understanding of version control systems (e.g., Git)Exposure to Agile development methodologiesBasic understanding of cloud platformsFamiliarity with an AI coding assistant such as ChatGPT/Copilot/CursorFluent English communication skills are requiredWhy clearer.io?We believe in making things simpler - for our customers, and for each other.
