Headquartered in San Francisco, our investors include Benchmark, General Catalyst, Peter Thiel, Adam D'Angelo, Larry Summers, and Jack Dorsey.Position: AI Tutor – Space Science SpecialistType: Full-timeCompensation: $90,000–$200,000/yearLocation: RemoteCommitment: 9:00am–5:30pm PST for the first two weeks of training, then 9:00am–5:30pm in your local timezoneRole ResponsibilitiesAnnotate and label scientific data using proprietary software to enhance AI model performance.Deliver high-quality, curated data consistently to strengthen AI model outputs.Collaborate with technical teams to refine annotation workflows and tools for efficiency.Select and solve problems from space science disciplines, evaluating model responses for accuracy.Evaluate AI-generated reasoning and provide evidence-based feedback to improve accuracy.Engage with evolving research objectives to develop new AI capabilities in physics and space science.QualificationsMust-HaveMaster’s or PhD in astrophysics, astronomy, physics, or related field.Expertise in space sciences like galactic astronomy, cosmology, or planetary science.Excellent command of English, both written and verbal.Strong analytical, organizational, and problem-solving skills.Ability to work independently with minimal supervision.PreferredPhD in physics, astronomy, or astrophysics with publications in peer-reviewed journals.Proven research experience with first-author papers in relevant areas.Teaching, tutoring, or mentoring experience at the university level.Experience in technical writing or academic publishing.Previous experience in AI training or data evaluation projects.Compensation & LegalCompetitive pay ranging from $90,000 to $200,000 annually for U.S.-based professionals.Medical benefits vary by country; full-time roles may include coverage based on location.U.S.-based applicants must reside outside of Wyoming and Illinois.Visa sponsorship is not available.Application Process (Takes 20–30 mins to complete)Submit your resume.Complete a 20-minute interview focused on your expertise and research background.Selected applicants will move through the following steps:15-minute phone interview to discuss qualifications and domain experience.Technical deep dive covering your research and data annotation capabilities.Meet-and-greet with the broader research team.Resources & SupportFor details about the interview process and platform information, please check: https://talent.docs.mercor.com/welcome/welcomeFor any help or support, reach out to: support@mercor.comPS: Our team reviews applications daily.
