Previous applicants must reapply to be considered.This is a Single Audit Compliance Auditor’s position monitoring approximately 800 entities receiving federal and state grant funds. The auditor will perform professional compliance auditing work with responsibility for examining and analyzing financial functions, program operations and results, and/or systems to determine compliance with financial or programmatic procedures and regulations. The individual in this position will audit and monitor governmental and non-governmental grant sub-recipients to detect and discourage misuse of funds. Reviews Comprehensive Annual Financial Reports and Single Audit Compliance Reports of NCDOT grantees prepared by independent auditors (Certified Public Accountants) for audit planning purposes. In conjunction with audit procedures, the auditor is responsible for reviewing invoices to the NCDOT for services rendered under executed contracts, grants with cities, towns, county governments, universities, airports, council of governments, other state agencies and non-governmental units. The auditor will be responsible for performing special assignments as required based on requests from program personnel and management.Some overnight travel for audits and training is required for this position.Knowledge Skills And Abilities/Management PreferencesSalary Grade: NC12 Salary Range: $45,926- $80,369Management Prefers Applicants With The Following Knowledge of generally accepted accounting principles and generally accepted auditing standards and the demonstrated ability to interpret and apply them independently Skill in compiling, monitoring, and examining a variety of moderately complex financial and/or program information for accuracy and integrity and conformance to rules and regulations.Demonstrated ability to examine invoices, contracts, journals, ledgers, audit reports for audit findings and other business documentsExperience using all Microsoft applicationsWorking experience communicating verbally and delivering presentations to convey moderately complex information and address issues effectively.Additional ExpectationsIt is helpful to have experience with audit application software, auditing federal and state grant programs. Management also prefers applicants who have certifications or working towards certifications such as Certified Government Audit Professional (CGAP), Certified Internal Auditor (CIA) or Certified Public Accountant (CPA).Having experience in auditing and monitoring grant funds is very beneficial.Minimum Education And ExperienceSome state job postings say you can qualify by an “equivalent combination of education and experience.” If that language appears below, then you may qualify through EITHER years of education OR years of directly related experience, OR a combination of both.
