Job OverviewThe Aquaculture Certification Program at SCS Global provides high-quality, 3rd-party auditing and consulting services worldwide. The breadth of the program’s operation ranges from small, family-owned shrimp concessions to large, vertically integrated salmon-producing corporations. Assessments involve document review, employee and contractor interviews, and on-site evaluation of field activities. Detailed assessment reports must be written and submitted on time. SCS Global Services provides ongoing training.Relevant Services/StandardsAquaculture Stewardship Council (ASC)Best Aquaculture Practices (BAP)Essential Duties And ResponsibilitiesPlan and carryout onsite assessments of aquaculture operations against the applicable standards.Engage with stakeholders to explain the audit process and record and address any comments provided.Audit CoordinationSchedule and confirm audit date with clientPrepare and send client audit plan according to protocolsBook travel, hotel and transportation according to company policy, and submit expense reportsAudit ServicesAdhere to all quality and code of conduct standardsConduct audits using applicable checklists, forms, and toolsMaintain positive client relationships and respond to all client inquiries and concernsSubmit complete and accurate audit reports within established timelinesEnsure thorough client records are maintainedAttend trainings to maintain qualification to conduct audits; maintain training recordsMaintain up to date knowledge of applicable regulations and standardsMinimum QualificationsBSc required in aquaculture, food science, environmental science, or related field.2+ years working experience in Feed Mill production or operations.Must have English and Japanese language fluency.Valid passport.Driver’s license.Ability and interest in travel to remote locations. Auditing may require international travel and extensive hours in the field.Preferred QualificationsRecent experience in 3rd party auditing to Aquaculture or similar standards.Demonstratable knowledge of relevant standards and auditing procedures.Documentation of successful training to ASC species standards.Evidence of lead auditor training course based on ISO 19011 principles.Physical RequirementsThis position is an office-based job primarily, with occasional travel to client sites. Ability to sit/stand at a computer station for 6+ hours/day, ability to travel via private/public transportation and carry luggage, ability to walk and stand for 2+ hours/day when auditing. Must be able to speak and listen to employees and customers virtually and in person.Work Environment This is an office-based job majority of timeAquaculture field and food facilities during audits, and auditor assessment activities.The above description is intended to describe the general nature and level of work being performed.
