Automation Engineer

Overview:A leading international building materials group is seeking an experienced Automation Engineer to join its technical team in County Louth. The role involves maintaining and developing advanced plant automation and control systems to ensure safe, reliable, and efficient manufacturing operations.Key Responsibilities:Maintain, develop, and optimise plant automation and control systemsAct as Network Owner for control system servers, software, and communicationsManage Siemens PCS7 systems, ensuring operational stability and efficiencyDesign, program, and implement control software for new projects and plant upgradesConduct system troubleshooting, loop tuning, commissioning, and testingOversee software upgrades, patch management, and data archiving processesLiaise with control system suppliers and provide technical support across departmentsCandidate Profile:Degree (or equivalent) in engineering, automation, or a related technical disciplineMinimum 5 year's relevant experience in industrial automationProficiency in PCS7, Step 7, Simatic Manager, and WinCCStrong understanding of PLC programming (CFC, FBD, STL)Familiarity with Windows OS, networking, SQL, and cybersecurity principlesExcellent analytical, problem-solving, and communication skillsAbility to work collaboratively in a fast-paced production environmentWorking Hours:Monday to Thursday: 8:00 a.m. - 4:30 p.m.Friday: 8:00 a.m. - 3:30 p.m.Benefits:Pension: employee contribution 4/5/6%, employer contribution 8/9/10%Performance-based bonus up to 10%Share participation scheme, allowing tax-free purchase of company sharesOpportunity to work in a modern, state-of-the-art facilityApply today, by sending your CV and I will contact you for a discussion.Contact Aine ODwyer on 086 169 6824 or email aodwyer@frsrecruitment for a confidential chatPlease note: due to current time constraints and travel restrictions, only candidates located in Ireland with full rights to work will be considered for this position.
