Role Name: AWS Database AdministratorLocation: Porto, PortugalRole DescriptionWe are seeking an experienced AWS Database Administrator to join our team in Porto, Portugal. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in administering mission-critical databases hosted on AWS technologies, ensuring high performance, reliability, and security. You will be part of a global team managing complex database environments, supporting large-scale services, and contributing to technology evolution initiatives.Key Responsibilities / Functional SkillsAdminister, maintain, and optimize databases on AWS RDS, Aurora PostgreSQL, Aurora MySQL, and Redshift.Perform installation, configuration, performance tuning, and query optimization activities.Manage database workloads, resource utilization, and troubleshooting of performance bottlenecks.Collaborate with development and operations teams to ensure database reliability, scalability, and compliance.Support incident resolution, root cause analysis, and implement preventive measures.Utilize AWS services such as S3, IAM, Lambda, and CloudWatch for database management and automation.Participate in on-call rotations (approximately one week per month) and shift coverage (10-hour shifts, 5 days a week).Contribute to the design and implementation of database solutions in international projects.Must Have5+ years of hands-on experience in Database Administration within mission-critical environments.Proven expertise in AWS RDS, Aurora (PostgreSQL/MySQL), and Redshift.Master’s degree in Information Technology, Mathematics, Physics, Statistics, or Engineering (or equivalent experience).Strong performance tuning, query optimization, and troubleshooting skills.Excellent communication skills in English (B2 or higher, both written and spoken).Strong problem-solving, influencing, and collaboration skills.Ability to work independently with minimal supervision.A self-starter, motivated to learn and share knowledge.Capable of managing tasks effectively and meeting deadlines under pressure.A team player with a pragmatic, hands-on approach.Good to HaveAWS, Azure, or other relevant cloud/database certifications.Experience with automation, scripting, and DevOps practices in AWS environments.Exposure to database migration projects and high-availability architectures.
