As a software engineer at Esri, you will be solving challenges that make a difference in the world. We are looking for creative, smart engineers to help us build the next generation of urban planning tools.ResponsibilitiesHelp design and implement the backend for ArcGIS Urban using modern web technologies (e.g., GraphQL, WebAssembly, Elixir, FastAPI)Apply and promote software engineering best practices related to performance, scalability, testability and maintainabilityHelp improve the developer experience for our APIs and backend servicesLead internal and external outreach activities related to our backend toolsTranslate developer requirements into actionable feature requestsWork in a small and dynamic team of people passionate about what they doRequirementsExcellent programming skills in GraphQL, WebAssembly, and Elixir2+ years of industry experience in web application development using TypeScriptStrong problem-solving and debugging skillsExcellent communication skills: you can clearly articulate the reasons behind design decisionsAbility to think creativelyAttention to detail and focus on maintaining a high level of accuracyBachelor's in computer science or a related fieldExisting work authorization for SwitzerlandRecommended QualificationsMaster’s or PhD in computer science or a related fieldExperience with outreach and requirements engineeringExperience with ArcGIS, ArcGIS Online, and/or ArcGIS EnterpriseInterest in (learning all about) urban design and planning as well as 3D mapping, 3D GIS, and BIMOur Zurich Team EnjoysFree coffee, tea, and soft drinksFun team activitiesCompetitive salary40-hour work weekFlexible working hoursDynamic, fast-growing international teamAbout EsriAt Esri, diversity is more than just a word on a map.
