PurposeYour role will be to drive the development and execution of Business Development (BD) strategies that drive growth for Banking, Restructuring &Insolvency, and Investment Funds practices, ensuring alignment with Firm and Client and Sectors strategies. You will review opportunities identified using strong product insights and data-led intelligence, ensure cross-selling, and inform the BD strategy to drive profitable revenue growth.Your Key ResponsibilitiesFormulate and drive Business Development (BD) strategies for Banking, Restructuring & Insolvency, and Investment Funds practices, ensuring alignment with global BD growth objectives and global Firm strategy.Act as principal right hand person for partners, being a trusted point of contact for knowledge, decision-making, and coordination within the function.Build and sustain strong working relationships with partners, stakeholders and key clients, proactively managing strategic go-to-market objectives, facilitating regular communication and collaboration, and horizon scanning to spot new opportunities and risks for priority clients.Support and advance client relationships (working closely with CRM’s where relevant), actively identifying growth opportunities, risks or trends through market intelligence and data-driven insights, and strengthening relationships for key clients within the practice.Guide and facilitate the BD specific professional development and training of fee earners, organizing training and development initiatives, and helping associates build the skills needed for business development excellence.Provide oversight and guidance for win strategies and market-leading pitch submissions; collaborate with Pitching teams to produce compelling client proposals aligned with practice and client needs.Work closely with other Business Development & Marketing (BDM) teams (including Clients & Sectors teams) to drive growth in priority sectors, execute effective go-to-market campaigns, and spot cross-selling opportunities.Leverage product, market and client feedback and sector insights to execute BD strategy, adapt plans to specific market needs, and inform decision-making with data-driven analysis.Set and monitor targets and key performance indicators to track BD effectiveness and practice area delivery; review metrics regularly to assess progress and recommend improvements.Ensure the BD team operates efficiently, making effective use of the firm’s systems and processes, and support alignment with firm strategy and focus practice needs.Your ExperienceExtensive experience in business development within legal services, preferably with a legal background (qualified lawyer, law degree or similar), with specific focus on Banking, Restructuring & Insolvency, and Investment Funds sectors.Deep experience working in or with Asian stakeholders, especially in the finance sector, with substantial understanding of market dynamics and client expectations in the region.Strong understanding of banking transactions, restructuring processes insolvency matters, fund formations, and market dynamics across these sectors.Proven track record in developing and implementing successful BD strategies.Experience building relationships with senior stakeholders and managing key client partnerships.Strong leadership skills with ability to guide teams and influence across practice areas.Experience setting and measuring KPIs for business development effectiveness.Demonstrated ability to leverage data insights to identify market opportunities.Experience creating compelling pitches and proposals for sophisticated Banking, R&I, and Investment Funds clients.Strong cross-selling experience with ability to identify opportunities across practice areas.Strategic thinking with ability to align tactical BD activities with broader firm objectives.The TeamYou will be welcomed into the BDM function as a key part of the team.
