To bring this vision to life, we are forming a specialized team responsible for turning the beamline design into a fully operational facility.As a member of this team, you will collaborate closely with experts across both our Technical and Science divisions to plan, install, and commission cutting-edge infrastructure and equipment. The project will be led by the TomoWISE Beamline Lead Scientist, and the team will be part of the Beamline Office Group within our Science Division.Would you like to work at one of the brightest lightsources in the world?MAX IV is looking for an experienced engineer to join the TomoWISE beamline project. In this role, you will take the lead in planning, coordinating, and following up on the installation of infrastructure and components during the construction phase. You will also be responsible for managing and maintaining beamline documentation throughout the build.You will play a key role in the design and development of instrumentation, whether developed in-house or in collaboration with external partners. As the project progresses, you will be actively involved in equipment testing, commissioning activities, and documentation during the commissioning phase.Once the beamline becomes operational, your responsibilities will extend to maintaining, further developing, and optimizing the instrumentation and sample environments, ensuring the beamline operates at its full potential.Your main work tasks will bePlan and coordinate the installation of infrastructure and instrumentation in collaboration with the TomoWISE Project ManagerWork on the Procurement documentation and review the suppliers’ proposalsPrepare the necessary beamline documentation for the construction phase, in accordance with the MAX IV standardsLead the design of beamline-specific instrumentation in close collaboration with in-house experts and external partnersActively participate in the testing and commissioning of the beamline and its endstations.To be successful in this role you need to have the following qualificationsDeep knowledge of complex motion systems is essentialKnowledge of 3D CAD software, and the ability to prepare 2D drawings for productionExperience with designing or modifying complex precision mechanics systemsStrong motivation for novel technical developmentSolid electronics background is welcomeBelow are seen as meritsKnowledge of SolidworksBasic knowledge of programming languages such as PythonKnowledge of complex vacuum systemsHands-on experience working at synchrotron facilities or other large-scale experimental research infrastructures.As a person you are organized, take initiative, and enjoy the combination of designing instrumentation and being 'hands-on'.What We OfferWhen you join our MAX IV team, you step into a world of front edge science.
