Job Description

Our client is a Western MNC in the HVAC industry with around 30 employees in Japan, developing and supplying industrial gases. Experiencing strong growth, and with the support of a private equity firm investing heavily in the APAC business, we are looking for a hands-on Business Development Manager to develop and grow the business in Japan.This is a hybrid role split between internal account management activities (phone calls/ emails/ virtual meetings/ account administration) and external engagement (prospecting / negotiations / deal closure). You will achieve your targets by acquiring new vendors from the industry network of contractors by negotiating directly with large end users such as food retail outlets and equipment manufacturers.This role reports to the General Manager in Japan. They have a shared-office in Chuo-ku and offer flexible/remote work arrangements.We are open to candidates from the following industries: HVAC, chemical, O&G, manufacturing, energy, power, semiconductor, biotech, mining, pharma, aviation.ResponsibilitiesFill a pipeline with opportunities.Contact a high volume of prospects through phone calls, emails, and in-person visits.Monitor and track progress, adjusting plans as needed to address potential roadblocks and risks.Establish relationships with end users/ contractors to build a forecast of opportunities related to planned maintenance /decommissioning.Lead and manage leads from initiation through to delivery, ensuring alignment with business goals and stakeholder expectations.Establish relationships with distributors for ongoing supply contracts.Work with the Japan GM to formalise contractual agreements.QualificationsBusiness level English and Japanese - verbal and written skills (minimum TOEIC 700 and JLPT N1).5+ years of related experience in one of the following industries: HVAC, chemical, O&G, manufacturing, energy, power, semiconductor, biotech, mining, pharma, aviation.Hunter profile with experience in business development.Self-motivated, entrepreneur mindset.Results oriented with a "can do" and high-energy attitude.
