   JOB TITLE: Business Development Manager/ Commercial Officer LOCATION: Abuja DIVISION/DEPARTMENT Business Development REPORTS TO:       MD/CEO & COO DIRECT REPORTS:   JOB SUMMARY Shapes and drives growth strategies across hydropower, solar, and battery storage projects by originating, structuring, and executing opportunities. Provides strategic leadership from feasibility through operations, ensuring commercial viability, stakeholder alignment, and sustainable value creation. Leads capital raising, investor engagement, and strategic partnerships to strengthen the company’s market presence and position it as a front-runner in Nigeria’s energy transition. ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS Strategy & Business Development·      Originates, evaluates, and structures new project opportunities across hydro, solar, and battery storage, both grid-scale and off-grid.·      Leads the company’s ambition to deliver over 200MW of projects in the next 3–5 years, building a robust pipeline of bankable opportunities.·      Develops strategic partnerships and farm-down strategies, positioning the company as a developer that recycles capital once assets are operational.·      Leads investor engagement and fundraising activities, presenting business cases to local and international financiers.·      Support corporate strategy and business expansion initiatives. Project Development & Execution·      Leads project development from early-stage feasibility through contracting, construction, and operations.·      Manages and negotiates with consultants, EPC contractors, O&M providers, regulators, and financiers, ensuring alignment across all stakeholders.·      Oversees the commercial and contractual framework of projects, from feasibility through construction, ensuring cost, schedule, and quality outcomes.·      Supports capital raising and investor engagement, providing commercial leadership and credible representation to external parties. Financial & Commercial Management·      Conducts financial modelling, project economics assessments, and investment analysis.·      Presents business cases to investors, partners, and internal leadership.·      Monitors financial and operational performance of projects to ensure alignment with business goals. Leadership & Team Development·      Builds, leads, and mentors internal teams to deliver high-quality outcomes.·      Fosters a results-driven, collaborative culture aligned with the company’s mission in Nigeria’s energy transition.  EDUCATIONQUALIFICATIONS: ·      Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Economics, Finance, Business Administration, or related discipline or related discipline.·      Master’s degree in a relevant field.·      Professional certifications in project management, finance, or energy-related fields. WORK EXPERIENCE: Minimum of 10+ years in the power, energy, or infrastructure sectors, with emphasis on renewables and hydropower.Proven track record in project development, tendering, and execution.Experience in M&A, partnerships, or joint ventures in the energy sector is advantageous. KNOWLEDGE REQUIREMENTS: ·      In-depth understanding of Nigeria’s power and renewable energy sector.·      Knowledge of project development cycles, contracting, and financing.·      Awareness of regulatory frameworks and government energy policies.·      Expertise in stakeholder management and partnership development.·      Strong background in financial modelling, project economics, and investment analysis.
