This is your chance to be part of a forward-thinking team that’s shaping smarter, more sustainable, and beautifully illuminated communities.About the RoleAs our Business Development Manager, you’ll be responsible for driving continuous growth, expanding market share, and managing key client relationships across New Zealand. You’ll identify and secure new business opportunities, develop long-term partnerships, and deliver outstanding value to clients.You’ll spearhead commercial engagements in Roadway, Specification, and Infrastructure, working closely with contractors, councils, and consultants to make Schréder the partner of choice.This role combines strategic thinking, relationship management, and hands-on business development — perfect for a motivated professional who thrives on achieving results and building genuine partnerships.Key ResponsibilitiesIdentify, track, and secure project opportunities to achieve quarterly sales targets.Build and maintain strong relationships with contractors, councils, specifiers, and end users.Manage CRM data and maintain accurate records of client interactions and opportunities.Drive demand generation and business development initiatives to support growth.Prepare and deliver tailored sales proposals that meet customer needs.Engage effectively with senior decision-makers, including CEOs and Managing Directors.Support channel partners and contractors with solutions for long-term success.Prepare tenders, quotations, and ensure high levels of customer satisfaction.Implement sales and marketing strategies to maximise portfolio growth.Expand specification and sales opportunities for sustainable, profitable growth.Travel regionally and attend evening lighting audits as required.Skills & ExperienceMinimum 5 years’ experience in lighting sales or a related technical sales role.Strong understanding of lighting controls, driver technology, and technical characteristics.Proven ability to close deals, negotiate effectively, and build lasting relationships.Experience in business development and market expansion within the NZ lighting sector.Excellent communication, presentation, and networking skills.Proficient in CRM software and familiar with modern sales methodologies.Knowledge of the New Zealand lighting market, including key players and trends.Flexible, organised, and proactive — able to manage multiple priorities and deliver results.Must hold unrestricted working rights in New Zealand.What we offer you:A highly autonomous role with the flexibility to shape your market and strategy.A global business with established roots and brand presence.Multi-disciplinary organisation - moving lighting hardware to smart controlsCompetitive salary and corporate discountsOngoing training and developmentUncapped commission structureFlexible work arrangementsAbout the company:At Schréder, we’ve been illuminating cities, industries, and communities for over a century.
