Job Summary Overview:The Business Development Manager Construction/Mechanical (Sales Lead Generator - Field-Based) is responsible for identifying, developing, and maintaining business relationships that lead to new opportunities in mechanical construction, plumbing, and HVAC service markets. This position combines networking and field outreach to expand the client base while leveraging existing industry relationships and contacts.This position requires a self-driven, outgoing professional with a proven background in relationship-based sales and lead generation within the construction or mechanical services industries. This role requires strong initiative, consistent field activity, and the ability to connect with decision-makers ranging from general contractors and property managers to facility directors and engineers.Look for candidates based in the following locations: West GA, Birmingham AL, Chattanooga TN.Responsibilities:• Generate new business leads through field prospecting, cold calls, in-person visits, and follow-up meetings.• Leverage existing professional network and industry contacts to establish relationships and uncover opportunities.• Identify prospective clients in target markets such as commercial, industrial, healthcare, education, and government facilities.• Promote the Company’s full suite of mechanical contracting services — HVAC, plumbing, piping, design-build, retrofit, and service maintenance.• Schedule and attend in-person meetings to introduce the Company, discuss project needs, and identify partnership opportunities.• Collaborate with estimating, project management, and service teams to develop proposals and respond to bid invitations.• Track all leads, meetings, and opportunities in the CRM system, maintaining accurate and timely documentation.• Attend industry networking events, trade shows, and association meetings to enhance visibility and expand market reach.• Provide regular reports on pipeline status, market trends, and competitive insights to leadership.• Meet or exceed monthly and quarterly lead generation and revenue goals.• Maintain professional knowledge of construction trends, mechanical systems, and client markets.Education and Qualifications: (Required and/or preferred)• Bachelor’s degree preferred – equivalent experience accepted.• Minimum 3-5 years of proven business development, outside sales, or lead generation experience in the mechanical, construction or building services industries.• Established network of industry contacts and client relationships strongly preferred.Field of Study:• Business Administration/Management, Construction ManagementCertifications and Licenses:• Valid Driver’s License and clean driving record (required)• OSHA 10 or 30-Hour Construction Safety Certification (preferred)• Professional Sales or Business Development Certification (CPSP, Sandler, or equivalent preferred)• HVAC or Construction Industry Sales Training (MCAA, ABC, or SMACNA preferred)Work Environment and Physical Demands:• Primarily field-based with frequent client site visits, networking events, and travel throughout the regional territory.• Occasional office-based work for CRM updates, reporting, and team collaboration.• Company vehicle or car allowance provided.
