Built with care by our 10+ product team, this is the underground breakthrough in learning languages, and we’re shooting for Duolingo’s throne.Role OverviewWe’re now hiring a diligent and bright-spirited Business Operations Manager to support both our CEO and wider company staff on their mission to turn our rising startup into a dominant force on the global language learning landscape. We’re a startup through and through which is an incredibly exciting opportunity if you value flexibility and the opportunity to directly influence “how the machine works”.You’ll have meaningfully contributed to the success of small to medium size companies in a similar capacity in the past. Your utmost attention to detail, effective communication abilities, positive energy and proactive planning will be a critical ingredient to make sure that our CEO and team can perform at their best.Key ResponsibilitiesRelay directives, instructions, and priorities to team members while ensuring alignment and follow-through. In turn collect and aggregate information from different departments for executive reviewDevelop and implement efficient administrative processes to support executive operationsMonitor key project updates and prepare concisely formatted reports, presentations, and briefing materials for internal and even external usePrepare, process, and track company payments, reimbursements, and invoicesMaintain accurate records of financial transactions and liaise with company accountantAssist with budget tracking and expense reporting for the CEO and leadership teamRespond to company accountant and lawyer inquiries and only involve the CEO when essentialManage the CEO’s calendar, coordinating meetings across multiple time zonesPrioritize scheduling requests and resolve conflicts proactivelyOrganize business-related travel arrangements, accommodations, and itinerariesOrganize company-wide events close to our Tokyo HQ to create bonding opportunities between staff outside of workAdditional Skills & QualificationsUtmost attention to detail and proactive planning abilities to catch errors before they happenNative-like spoken and written English, ability of drafting clear memos and task directives is a mustContribute a warm, bright and diligent energy to the teamMaintain confidentiality and handle sensitive information with discretionStrong track record of handling confidential financial information responsiblyAbility to work independently and make sound judgment callsExcellent organizational skills and attention to detailWhy Join UsWe increased revenue 10x over the past year and plan to do the same again over the coming 12 months, so this is a unique opportunity to experience the early stage of a growing startupWe will provide you with all the tools and opportunities necessary to make a direct, meaningful and long-lasting impact on the legacy of our company and the global language learning landscape as a wholeYou will be part of a high-trust community that encourages risk-taking, experimentation and innovationYou will be working alongside ambitious executors and creatives from a wide range of backgrounds and disciplinesPerks & Work CultureRemote WorkWhile we support remote work, this role requires the individual to be based in Tokyo in order to collaborate with the Migaku team on event planning when needed.Flexible Time Off36 flexible vacation/sick days per year.
